short freeze if returning to rss
-
hey folks
I encountered a problem with the new mail/rss modul. I have 2 installations (multiuser with default paths) at different workstations.
workstation a is well equipped and has 2 mailaccounts + 20+ rss feeds (win10 2004 home)
workstation b is round about 5 years old and has only 3 rss feeds (win10 1909 pro)I realized at both computer the following problem:
- I have the mail/rss panel open and the rss tab open too
(also some other tabs for surfing the web) - vivaldi is maximized at stay open some time (maybe 5-15 minutes)
- I come back and want to look at some other opened tabs but I can't switch immediately to the other open tabs because vivaldi is freezed
I can minimize and maximize vivaldi but for 5-10 seconds I can't switch to another tab/vivaldi is unusable. after that period, vivaldi behaves in a normal way
(the last clicks are not executed afterwards)
if vivaldi stays open with a normal tab, then everything is (and stays) okay
has anyone else noticed this error as well?
- I have the mail/rss panel open and the rss tab open too

@derDay not here, sorry.

@derDay Confirmed with restrictions (Windows 10). Thanks for your post to narrow down this mysterious behavior.
Scenario 1:
Open Windows Settings --> System --> Power & Sleep --> Screen -> "When plugged in, turn off after -> any selection but not "Never"
Close Windows Settings
Activate Window "Vivaldi"
Wait
Wake up screen
Vivaldi is frozen for some seconds
It doesn`t matter which tab was selectedScenario 2:
Open Windows 10 Settings --> System --> Power & Sleep --> Screen -> "When plugged in, turn off after" -> any selection but not "Never"
Don`t close Window Windows 10 Settings
Activate Window "Vivaldi"
Wait
Wake up screen
Vivaldi is running normal, no frozen screenWorkaround on my system:
Windows Settings --> System --> Power & Sleep --> Screen -> "When plugged in, turn off after" -> "Never" -

@derDay Didn't realize that we had both reported the same issue, albeit in slightly different ways and with slightly different descriptions. FYI, looks like a problem in the Chromium 88 code.

@xyzzy
yeah, pretty annoying but I have got used to it, to minimize and maximize the browser when I come back to my computer -
To recover, you can also hover on the Vivaldi icon on the Win10 task bar, or click on a menu item on the Horizontal Menu if you have that enabled.
