Generate QR code from link
-
The new QR code feature is very useful, but I'd love to be able to generate QR codes from links by just right clicking them. I use QR codes a lot to open youtube videos on my phone but it always requires actually opening a video I want to watch and then generating the code. Instead, it would be much easier to just right-click the link without having to open any additional pages.

This would make it more usable than chrome's implementation. QR codes could be generated for any text selection, bot just links.
For now, you can copy the address and paste it into the text box for the current page QR code, and it will generate a new one.

@LonMYes, I had that idea as well, but that's not much better than opening the page and clicking the button.

Good point, I imagine just right-clicking on some selected text to turn it into a QR code could be very useful for many cases. There's surprisingly many cases where one needs to get some alphanumeric ID from one device to another, be it a user ID to add a friend in a game or a more technical reason (although this would probably affect only a smaller portion of users)

@DarkWiiPlayer It have been nice to insert hard return in QR code for text over several lines

I totally agree - the QR code generator for URLs is working great, however an additional feature of selecting any text on a website and right click to generate a QR code would be perfect. It's not always an URL people want to share, but maybe some text content on a website (contact infos, addresses, explanations).

@glx
if you didn't know, you can already insert any text into the qr code generator textfield. you can even write within the textfield
