Home button = Speed Dial

    @jarmush:

    Hello

    First time user of Vivaldi and this forum.

    When I start/open Vivaldi, Speed Dial is the main page. Is it possible to let Speed Dial be the Home page when I press Home button?

    Could not find this option in settings.

    It's not a setting, but it can be done.

    Paste the following text into notepad and save the .txt file:

    Then change the suffix of the file to .html, name it however you like (I named mine "Home") and place the file in whatever folder you would like.

    Then, in the Vivaldi Settings page, where you allowed to select a home page, enter the address to the file in this format (the example here being that I placed the file in my own profile folder:

    C://Users/ayespy/Home.html

    I can't take credit for this solution, but I have used it and it works.

  • Well thats complicated, i hope they fix it :ohmy:

    EDIT: Even this workaround is bugged since if you choose a path like "/home/file.html" vivaldi will auto complete the field as "http://home/file.html" so this only works in windows.

    I tried file:// and it works now. Example file://C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Vivaldi\User Data\Default\SpeedDial.html

  • This should not be a hack, Vivaldi devs please add.

  • @Ayespy Can you tell me the "following text" to paste into Notepad? I don't see it. Thanks!

    @haidnacitt - for some reason, it got deleted when the forums were migrated to this new platform. Not to worry, though. That solution is obsolete.

    Now all you have to do is enter "vivaldi:startpage" (without the quotes) in the home page address box.
