Tab and Theme Colors set by site
-
I love the idea of having the browser tabs change color based on the site you're currently on. From what I can tell, it seems to be choosing the color based on the most common color in the Site's icon. It would be great if it can be overwritten if there's a "theme-color" meta tag in the page. The Google Chrome Android app uses this meta tag as well to change the theme color.
<meta name="theme-color" content="#EF3939">
It already does so.

It seems to work for some sites but as an example, you can see that it isn't using the color for mtyrewards.ca even though it's specified. Is there a reason for this?

Vivaldi seems to have some problems with green. A dev told me that they do a check for the colour to disallow colours that would not offer enough contrast with other UI elements. This check is also fixed against white. The same dev told about changes needed on this code, so they'll look into it.
I'll try pointing them about this problem.

Any thought given to allowing users to set a standard color that "feels" comfortable for the users eyes for everything except the tabs? The changing tab color is awesome. Glad I searched for "Color" first though. Red is a terrible color :unsure: {in my opinion} and I was ready to remove the browser before I tested it further. As long as a site has no Red as a primary color I should be able to play with this and see if it meets or exceeds my needs. It also means I won't be on Vivaldi or the forums unless I absolutely have to be here - or I will use Opera, Chrome, Firefox, or even IE when I need to visit here.

More control over colours / colors etc. is coming with Vivaldi 1.3.

While you're experimenting you can just turn off the site colors in settings. I personally find the site colors too saturated and distracting, so I keep them turned off.

almost a year later, i am still not satisfied with this feature (meaning, i have never seen theme-color work, not once). unless every single colour i pick is some how calculated to suck by their code in which case i don't think its my colour. the colour changing does work, it always matches the fav icon no matter how crappy those colours are though. like to be honest, the red that it is right now on this site is so flaming that i kind of can't quite look directly at it.
one idea would be maybe to add an optional option to subdue those colours. calculate your colour as you want, and then apply like a 20% desaturation to it.

Was something changed with this features the latest update 1.9? Somehow it feels it was more prominent before.
Can the windows title-bar be colored too? What about the inactive tabs that are bright white at the moment, they could also be in the websites color but in a different tone (darker or lighter depending if your are using a dark or bright overall theme).
