Regarding
[Exit] Clear data does not clear cache & history on exit VAB-2783
...more progress has occurred, but not yet all the way to the finish line. Now:
- Finishing a browsing session then exiting V no longer leaves 10 - 20 MB in the cache, so that IS an improvement. However, ...
- instead it leaves ~200 kB in the cache, which made me suspicious [it = 16 kB when ALL has been cleared]. So...
- Relaunched V, checked Recent tabs from dropdown, showed nothing... that's good, but...
- then looked in full history, & ugh, there it is, everything from this last session.
- Manually cleared it
- Repeated the test -- same results.
If this problem is intractable, pls might i suggest an alternative paradigm? Instead give us a Setting where we can set as default all new sessions will be in private tabs? This way we know all is discarded at the end. Atm, having to manually choose a private session after launch, every time, is a minor PITA. If we could set it as default... nirvana.
EDIT, the "morning after".
I cannot explain this. Overnight there were no more Vivaldi nor Android updates, yet when i used V this morning it had reverted entirely to the older misbehaviour... after exiting V from a session, then checking cache for V, it was back to being many MB, not kB. Sure enough when i relaunched it, my full history from that prior session was all there.I don't understand the substantial cache inconsistency between this morning's vs last night's results. Most odd. Regardless though, the main point is... history is still not clearing on exit.

Please fix Send page to desktop function. It does send notification to Windows, but when I click it on my Windows 10 machine, it opens nothing, just disappears. Probably something wrong inside notification message code.

@guigirl: hi, thank you for your feedback.
Do you have Close open tabs on exit enabled?
-
@guigirl: Also regarding Cache memory: It consists 1. Application(Vivaldi) data, which speeds up loading the data - this will not be deleted. 2. Cache from browsed sites(like images) - this will be deleted
-
@mariap Yes, i ticked all the boxes.
-
@guigirl: hi, thank you for the information. Can you please share us your android version and possibly a video depicting the issue, which helps us check the issue faster.

Fix for clear browsing data on exit
Clicking Exit button should bring up clear browsing data screen. So we can clear it manually instead of by going settings - privacy and security - clear browsing data
-
@nagamani It's Android 6 on a 2014 Motorola phone. Sorry a video is beyond my competence.
The current status is that with all the boxes ticked in the setting of clear data on exit, once i later finish my present browsing session, i access the V menu & choose the exit option in the list. Once V then closes, & i later relaunch it, from the same V dropdown menu i then pick Recent tabs. The original version of this feature continued to show all my previous tabs there, under heading Recently closed, ie, was a complete failure. The latest version successfully now shows an empty list here [v good]... but... the problem is revealed when pressing the option on that page of Show full history. Logically that should also be empty, but it continues to show all my tabs from last session/s. Clearly that is wrong/bad.
-
@guigirl Thanks for the detailed information. We will further check the issue.
-
Please, fix the white bar on Chrome Custom Tabs!
And navbar is always white when using tab groups.

Second this. I have to use the stable version instead of Snapshot as my primary until that comes back.
-
@myronandez It'll be good if they fix it. I'm going to come back.
-
very nice. 2 requests.
- Please keep speed dial shortcut on address bar.
- When clicking speed dial folder let the items appear as drop down menu. NOT in a new page from where I have to click back to come to main speed dial page again.
Thanks
