It means open the mail client.

      what top bar?

The tool bar on top (or bottom…) of the mail client (the one that replaces the address bar when you're on a mail tab).

Very sorry if my instructions were unclear; I was a little rushed when I wrote them. Hopefully @hlehyaric has offered enough clarification for you πŸ™‚

The current mail preview now has a separate panel for RSS. I guess that starts to help keep things separate.

      Yes, "starts" to help πŸ™‚
Imo, RSS should be entirely removed from the mail panel.
The problem now are the count badges:

      1. There's no separate badge for RSS
      2. The badge for mail includes RSS feed, making it counterproductive

Email - involving some urgency - should have a separate, dedicated counter, not obscured by RSS.

You can exclude the Feeds from a counter by using the view toggles. If you do that in the Unread folder then the counters on the mail button and the panel won't be affected by feeds (and any folder you do it in will also not include feeds)

Thank you very much, didn't know that :-).
Is there a way to have a separate badge with a counter for RSS though?

There is currently no separate notification badge for the Feeds panel πŸ˜• I saw one bug for it VB-81083. You can add a separate feature request for it though. We should add this.

I don't know why Vivaldi has this page hidden away, but that feature, and many others are outlined here

Just coming from this thread, and wanted to add the following:

      • Feeds don't have a "sender" (they are fetched directly from the site which generates them), and cannot be replied to.
      • I don't think there's currently a way to prevent new feed items from being shown as unread in the "all messages" view in the mail tab (see screenshot. There is no e-mail acount configured in this case -- that "4" refers to feed items, and I can't make it or the "Feeds" line go away)
        03f3e53e-c722-4c15-99ba-2c89a35bbb2c-image.png
      • As @guigirl pointed out in the linked thread, new feed items should not be indicated in the status line as if they were e-mails.
      • Having to go through a larg-ish number of settings to remove feeds from the mail view can get tedious and runs the risk of either overlooking something or accidentally hiding something from some view that should not be hidden -- so a simple switch ("show feeds in mail view"), or a mail-only panel (which can then be shown instead of the mail & feeds panel) would be welcome since it's much quicker and cleaner to configure.

I'm having a similar problem with removing RSS feed counts from the Email count. feeds.jpg
I tried to find all the areas to disable the feeds section as demonstrated in the attached screen grab, but still the number pops up in the email section. I even tried restarting the browser, but the problem persists.

      @GriZag

      • Open the Mail Panel
      • Right-click, and from the Views menu, disable Feeds and Mailing Lists
      • Select the Unread or Received folders, and above the list of email messages there is a button with a tooltip saying Show Feeds. Click that to hide feeds from the mail folders.

Right-click the Panel Toolbar to ensure that the Feeds Panel has a checkmark next to it.

Now, you can view your Feeds in the Feed Panel, without them showing up in the Unread count or anywhere else in the Mail Panel.

Is there a reason this feature should still be open? We have a feeds panel and it's very straight forward to hide all feed items from the Mail panel, including hiding the feeds category. I wonder what is missing.

@WildEnte But feeds are still linked to mail. I think OP want to use feeds without enabling mail.

don't set up an email account and remove the mail, contacts and calendar icons from the panel?

@WildEnte There's just no way to do that. If you don't set up an email account then the UI will not show any feeds. All it shows is this:

@flodin You don't have to go into the mail panel to read your feeds.

Go on any web page that provides a feed. Click the Feeds link in the Address field to subscribe. Vivaldi adds Icons for Feeds, Mail, Calendar and Tasks to the Panel bar. Keep the Feed icon and remove the icons for Mail, Calendar and Tasks by right-click -> Edit -> Remove from toolbar.
