I had heard of it - back in the early days of lockdown my family were complaining I didn't have WhatsApp and Whereby was one of the options mentioned in a similar article in the Guardian or something. My dad had been doing his own research and was using Jitsi with his friends so we went with that in the end (although only a couple of times - the lockdown novelty soon wore off).
But I just created a room in Whereby after seeing this blog so maybe I'll send them the link for a catchup some time.

There is also a wire, it was quite good for video calls. -

At first i mistakenly thought this was the "new" poll, & it was freaking me out. I've just watched a timeloop stuck-in-one-day deja vu Groundhog Day derivative [Happy Death Day], & when i then saw this i instantly said "oh whoa, what the hell, didn't we just do this a week ago, is this life imitating art?". Now i'm slightly afraid to go to sleep...

@Stardust yep - you just need to give a username and mail address and it will mail you a code to log in - then you can create a (permanent) room for up to four people to video chat. Anyone can be allowed in if you send them the link.
