Edge on Linux: Thoughts from a Linux user

@greybeard , same privacy and filter bubble problem as in Google and less results. Search engines that in my searches do not offer neutral results, instead of adapting to my preferences, they do not serve me. Just like asking someone who always agrees with me, even though I'm not right

Good analogy...
I was looking through available extensions (beta) and did find one for Ecosia and DDG. Not sure how their extension system works but I'd be surprised if there were not more coming.

I want Edge to get better, so I help out. Report bugs and so on. You can choose your search engine, even DuckDuckGo. Choose address bar on "Search on new tabs uses search box or address bar" you search in other search engines. You can even delete Bing, if you don't want it.
I actually like the New Tab, better than speed dials, for I can have a nice Favourites Bar with all folders on it with drop down pages. I'd be quite happy to get rid of speed dials, and get back to favourites Bar, in Vivaldi/Opera. You can't sync yet, but most probably will be able to, after a final release.

@guigirl With Edge, the out-of-the-box default experience took me aback and I also found using it rather disconcerting initially. However, fortunately, its more obnoxious behaviours can be disabled and you can install content blockers (uBO, Privacy Badger, etc.) to eliminate ads and further improve privacy. Its most redeeming feature on Win10 is the ability to stream 4K content, and Edge is also pretty stable so it can be useful for testing purposes. I don't have it installed on Linux so I can't compare it to the Windows version.
On Linux, I would install Edge before I install Chrome, but I still prefer Vivaldi, by far, over any other browser out there, not only for its superior user experience but for the integrity and high ethical standards of the company and people that created it.

I have not seen ads in any browser for years, because for years i have set each of them up to prohibit all that crap.
What about Shopping Coupons in your browser?
-
@stardust , this is what they mean with "Improve the User experience", and this is what I have disabled in Windows, apart of other crap.
