More fixes and another minor Chromium bump – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2088.7

@Steffie Good catch. I experience the same behaviour: inside stacks, I can re-order tabs, outside stacks, no luck.

@hlehyaric said in More fixes and another minor Chromium bump – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2088.7:
I can confirm this, but it's not limited to this snapshot, the issue arose weeks ago.
Not weeks. Months or even years ago.
-
@Vort TBH, I hesitated between «weeks» and «months».
-
@steffie: The same happens when middle clicking on a link, the tab is opened at the end. But I guess that is to be expected.
-
FWIW, since the first day I experienced it, it did not happen again until today, when it has happened twice so far. BUT, I cannot perceive a pattern, so it remains an annoying mystery.
-
I need to borrow someone else's memory, coz mine has let me down again. Atm i am confused whether the behaviour described below used to be part of V & is missing now due to a bug, OR... was never in V & instead i am getting it mixed up with Firefox-Nightly [which does support this].
Did V's Search Field's context menu once-upon-a-time give us the option to change the current default Search Engine, & also provide a link to jump directly to the Search Settings?
FF-Nightly:
-
@Steffie I checked my Stable 3.1 (not really uptodate…) and there's no such behaviour. It may never have existed in V or dates back to really older versions.
-
@Steffie Not a user of the search field, but I don't remember anyone ever talking about this & it doesn't seem ‘the Vivaldi way’ to me.
-
Thank you both @hlehyaric & @potmeklecbohdan -- it pleases me somewhat to know that this time anyway i was simply delusional rather than owning corrupt organic RAM.
-
@steffie: I'm having this issue as well
-
@Steffie @hlehyaric @potmeklecbohdan It might interest some that in the meantime both issues have been "confirmed and passed to the team". There goes the hope of it already having been fixed...
-
@Turandot Hallelujah! Thanks a lot for sharing infos .
-
@steffie: Then I realized I was reporting the issue in the mobile snapshots section. Oh well.
Tab behavior is completely erratic, sometimes I close Vivaldi and when re-opening the tab is located elsewhere, as third or fourth tab. Opening a new tab always opens it as the last tab, never after related tabs. I have it set as you have. From memory, this is a regression from about two years back, just can't remember the VB. -
@Gwen-Dragon Oh excellent, danke.
The timing is ironic, coz 2 hours ago i reverted to Stable to avoid this annoyingly discombobulating bug.
Is this also fixed possibly, please?
Summary: Searx POST unavailable/defective from Search Field.
Key: VB-68138 -

In some cases the Focus on the Start Page disappears, e.g. when you open in the 1 tab any selected dial and close it by ctrl+w, you will see that the focus is gone.
Here is a demo gif:
After closing the tab the focus is no longer on the 1 dial.

How to open Vivaldi with 2 profile when you don't have a profile button on the Address bar?
The one method I found is from the settings:
-
I uninstalled Vivaldi yesterday and did a clean re-install, although I did import the previous bookmarks, history and usernames/passwords. Just now, it happened again: closing the only tab left a tab-less Vivaldi window and I had to close/reopen Vivaldi for it to be usable again.
I still can't suss out any pattern to the occurrence, so can't intentionally reproduce it to file a bug report. <sigh...>
-
@wpcoe I think that developers know about this problem.
So hopes that it will be fixed in the next test build.
If not, then it is worth to make bug report even without precise reproduction steps. -
Another FYI/FWIW: A few days ago I uninstalled Vivaldi (using Windows Add or remove programs) and deleted the remaining files in the Vivaldi directory. I did a clean install, although I did copy over my old History, Visited Links, Login Data & Bookmarks files.
I still have random occurences of no tabs after closing the last active tab. I have to close/reopen Vivaldi to continue using. Trying to use bookmarks or items from the typed-URL drop-down do not work, either.

@vort: Just saw your post. I will make a bug report.
