cyclic selection + tab selection
-
is it normal that with cyclic selection enabled on everything, the tab stays selected even if the focus changes with tab button cycling?
-
further specifi details: fixed selection happens when let's say open a new tab and then click the frame of the tab's name, thereafter cycling with tab.
edit: it happens anyway even without firstly click on the tab...

@urfausto Hi,
I'm not sure I understand the issue. Would you be able to make a screen recording showing the issue happening, please?
Also, what OS & Version are you using?
-
@LonM ok, how do i do a recording?
-
@urfausto I use the ShareX program - it can record gifs or videos, which you could share directly on the forum or via a site like https://imgur.com
Some operating systems, like android, have screen recording functionality built-in.

@urfausto OK, thank you, this makes more sense.
I misunderstood your original post, I thought you were talking about the popup tab cycler, not the tab keyboard button cycling.
This is intentional that the tab selection (the dotted border) doesn't change. This is because although it has a highlighted border, it is not really "focused" in the same way that an input area like the address bar can be focused.
I think part of the reason for this is you may want to perform other actions using Quick Commands (such as to tile the selected tabs), which would require the selection to remain when the focus moves into the quick command text input area.
Does this make sense?
-
@LonM yes, thanks. but my question is this to be more specific: is it ok that the behaviour of this interaction changes wheter the mouse cursor is inside the tab title frame or outside?
-
@urfausto I suspect that it is working properly. But then, I never coded it, so I can say for 100% certain.
Do you mean that the selection is lost when you click on tabs? I think that is by design to match standard ctrl+selection behaviour in other file picker apps.

@LonM said in cyclic selection + tab selection:

no clicking. only hovering and opposite matter: the selection stays when the focus changes.
-
@urfausto I've been trying and I'm not able to see a difference in the behaviour when the hovering location changes.
-
can you please check these settings? are yours the same as mine?
-
@urfausto Yes, I was testing with the same setup. I am on windows 10 using the latest 3.5 build.
What OS and vivaldi version are you using?
-
@LonM so this is just a problem of mine? how is the behaviour of your vivaldi instance? can you describe or film it? with no mouse clicking (tabs opening aside) strictly...
my setting is windows 7 x64 and vivaldi 3.4.2066.76 (Stable channel) (a 32 bit)
-
@urfausto There's not much to describe - I see the same behaviour regardless of where the mouse cursor is placed.
-
@LonM yes, which is that?
-
@urfausto If I open a new tab and press tab, the focused input moves around the browser, and then the page. It does not affect the tab selection box.
-
@LonM why it selects the tab with me?
