Vivaldi asking phone numbers and saving it ?
-
I am new to Vivaldi. I am seeing that Vivaldi is asking phone numbers to verify the user despite asking a recovery email as well. Does Vivaldi saves this number? I could not find the answer in Privacy policy. if Vivaldi is saving phone number then it is needlessly exposing a sensetive user data and identifier for a breach.
If you are only doing it to weed out the spammers then saving a hash of the number should suffice.

If you want to use your own blog and Webmail on Vivaldi community you need to add a cell phone number. That was added as countermeasure against spammers.

Thank you. that much I have already figured out, so your reply is not helpful. I understand the valid purpose of asking the phone number. Proton Mail also does it, but it does not save the actual number but the hash of the number. That way the hash can be used to spot the spammers, without compromising every users privacy.
Is this the right place to ask such a question ( If Vivladi stores the Phone number or a hash of it ?) and my suggestion. If not please guide me to the right place.
