Federated blogging
-
Just listened to the latest episode of the french podcast La Voix est Libre.
Learned about a federated blogging platform called Plume https://joinplu.me/
From what I understand, it works like email or Mastodon. It's a decentralised network. Members of different 'instances' can communicate with one another. Could we imagine Vivaldi blogging to be compatible with this? I don't know a lot about it, so I'm just wondering. -
@cedricdes Right now the vivaldi.net platform uses Wordpress for the blogging side of things. I don't imagine vivaldi will change any time soon.
But you can export your vivaldi community blog, so maybe if plume has an import function you could move it that way?

@LonM I'm happy with Vivaldi platform but just think that adopting open standards for communication protocols could be nice. In the internet today, to reduce the power of the big platforms that are powerful because of the size of their user base, federation would allow smaller plateforms to create a network and this would benefit us as end users.
I believe that Wordpress, although being open-source, does not use these open standards that the Plume blogging engine is build upon. -
