@Ruarí Of course, it's already in testing.
-
Thanks now I can use my glorious new avatar in any new testing profile of mine.

cool. any word on M3 though?

It's just me or uBlock Origin has started acting weirdly after this update? Some annoyances like banners and euro cookie warnings are not removed, restoring settings from the backup txt doesn't work anymore.
I updated to uBlock Origin development build 1.30.1.5 (beta on github and chrome store) and no change, acts buggy.
EDIT: I managed to make it work again by manually fiddling with the saved backup settings, by saving a default settings txt and reimporting with a text editor each section from the backup that didn't get reimported; apparently something went wrong and there was some setting that made uBO act weird... -
VB-72508 -> nice

I see that the continue running in the background switch is working now (in some way, got a vivaldi icon with menu in the system tray)... or was it always working and it's just the aftermath of an installed extension? I tend to believe the latter.yep false observation -
@holly: Getting closer each day now...

Please, please, please fix the bug VB-70371, which is preventing me from upgrading to the latest Vivaldi versions! The bug can cause accidental mouse actions and is very troublesome. It seems like an easy bug to fix so please fix it soon!
-
@Ruarí Interesting one! Thank you Vivaldi team.

What I’d wish to see from Vivaldi is a clear commitment to themes and sync. A good portion of the mods I write addresses fixed colors in the UI and outside sources, like background images. Images are a separate setting and can’t change with the theme, such as patterns or startpage backgrounds. Moreover they are added from the file system and cannot be synced. Please consider making all styling dependent on themes, getting rid of any and all fixed colors and allowing us to save backgrounds, patterns and in this case profile images inside our profile and allow them to sync.

I'm not sure where to mention this, but twitter has been a mess on Macos 11 Beta 9. It totally refreshes the screen randomly and enough of these make twitter unusable and I have to go manually refresh it and hope for the best.

[Popout video] Allow PiP window to be larger than half the monitor size (VB-72508)
This is nice; thanks.
[Popout video] Not available for Dailymotion videos (VB-69364)
Also nice, & momentarily i thought i might now finally be able to uninstall https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/picture-in-picture-for-ch/ekoomohieogfomodjdjjfdammloodeih given it's no longer needed for DM. Sadly however there's still no PiP for https://www.sbs.com.au/ondemand/ thus i do still need this extension [note: you won't be able to test this without a VPN, coz iirc it blocks non-Australian access (also to my HUGE annoyance, i have to disable the V tracker & blocker for this site, & suffer the expletive expletive ads)].

Did you report it? As a workaround (until they fix it/if they fix it) you can add it as a web panel and use PiP from there.

Not just now [but i shall, after this post]. Can't remember if i originally raised a bug report for it [i noticed it first yonks ago].

Um, to be technical in my response... huh? Also; Whatcha talkin bout Willis?. See here... still no PiP regardless of being in WP:
Spoiler
I use ArchYour new avatar is still cracking me up, btw.

@Steffie I don't understand how it is the case that this userscript works better than Vivaldi's inbuilt PiP, but the fact is that it somehow does. I included this userscript in a bug report I sent some while ago, and hopefully the Vivaldi devs will take a look at it and use it as a basis to get the inbuilt PiP working on a large number of sites that it currently doesn't work on.
-
@valiowk Fair point, it seems. Equally, i have no understanding why that extension i posted above also worked fine for me in DM [I mean, it still works there, just not needed now], & also works fine for SBS where V does not.
-
Kept trying the snapshots. Hope at least final 3.4 for Mac will have sound fixed on videos for various websites: instagram, dailymail, tiktok, etc. All videos have no sound on these websites, youtube videos have it.

Allow for using a local image as avatar image
Not so long ago i decided to make some scripts to automatize this based on pak_mingw64, nice to see is now built in.
Allow PiP window to be larger than half the monitor size
Loving to see improvements on PiP still i feel it lacks some polishing.
An issue i encountered when testing it on youtube is that if you open the PiP video when the video is paused it can't be resumed using the PiP controls.
Other possible improvements are; volume controls (and if added option to use the mouse wheel to adjust it), single click to play/pause and maybe doble click to go full screen.
Also wanted to ask about the status of VB-39040 (extensions panels of incorrect size when using vivaldi user interface zoom), some extensions, specially uMatrix goes crazy when i use 95% scale on sites that does too many connections to the point it's impossible to see the whole list at all, not a very problematic bug for me as i just wanted to reduce the zoom to 95% so using it at 100% until it's fixed doesn't really annoy me, but it will be a nice to have feature.
I'm loving all the new features in the current snapshots it seems the next stable release will be great.

Many of us have mentioned this for some years. Iirc, the "common wisdom" was that it's not a V problem but a uM problem, & that the Dev Gorhill had declared he wasn't going to fix it coz no other browser has a scalable UI. Given since then that uM became an archived project, i presume that we now have no hope whatsoever of a solution, other than keep UI => 99% [you mentioned 95% but in all my testing over the years everything below 99% would eventually break the uM UI].

I'm noticing some performance issues related to scrolling with this build (and the new frame rendering stats are weird, so I can't tell an average framerate, just that there are a lot of dropped frames). I'm running Pop!_OS 20.04, i7-3770, 16 GiB RAM, GTX 1080. I think I've seen this with other browser-based apps before (e.g. VSCode), so it probably isn't Vivaldi-specific but stems from Chromium/Blink.
Edit: It might be a false positive. Rebooted and I think I haven't seen the issue since.
