Custom links in menus – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2059.2
-
@Steffie No, I think this is just how some fonts / systems work. For example, on windows the
🪓
is in colour, but the⛏
is a black symbol. I'm not sure of the exact cause, and it seems to differ even within applications at times. -
@Steffie Probably a font issue on Linux. Looking good here as in Pathduck’s screen shot.
-
@Steffie Hehe, thanks
I just used the ones from Emojipedia. Try this: https://emojipedia.org/no-entry/ ?Or (likely) it's a OS/Font issue.
-
@Steffie I think it has something to do with font/Qt/Plasma settings.
Edit: it seems you can specify multiple fallback fonts --> https://gist.github.com/Nyubis/2023a01276c1cfc9786a

I'm almost certain that you're both correct, hence soon after my last post i stopped worrying about this. Afaik in Plasma the only reliable way to get emojis working system-wide is with the Noto font family. Sadly for me, i dislike that one a lot & always change my default to other families. So basically, it's all my fault, i'm always the bad one, sigh.
-
@Pathduck We can always do this with quick commands too, is faster. But I like the idea to make this a default for new users.

Really weird
Yes i am.
-
snapshot is 5 hours online and noone noticed/mentioned the vanished numbers at the reload menu??
-
@derDay Don't have the issue.
-
@luetage
oh. I have tried it specially in a profile for testing. also in a guest window. both get the same result, strange -
@derDay Good here too:
-
@Gwen-Dragon
thank you for testing (and reporting ) -
-
@Steffie
so far I thought that only the Australians were disadvantaged -
@derDay Maybe the Devs have a new policy -- cycle one by one through each country & pick on them individually? Who will be next?
-
@Steffie
how about the Icelanders?
(btw: great new policy ) -
vivaldi break mode button is stuck otherwise it works fine
-
@Steffie As of now I’ve found 2 ways, of which one doesn’t work if I edit it just a little, and the other doesn’t seem right to me (but that may be just me).
Nothing will work if you don’t have a colourful emoji font, e.g. (already mentioned)
Noto Color Emoji
.Also, I recommend you first of all checking the emoji fonts section in Plasma settings.
What I have done (but may not work for you, or even for me if I try tomorrow)
- (Stopped working even after I only changed
sans-serif
to something else)
In~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini
(not sure if necessary)
Ingtk-font-name=sans-serif 10
~/.config/fontconfig/fonts.conf
:<alias> <family>sans-serif</family> <prefer> <family>Iosevka Term</family> <family>Noto Color Emoji</family> </prefer> <default><family>Iosevka Term</family></default> </alias>
- (Doesn’t seem right to me, and is equal to uninstalling the other emoji fonts)
In~/.config/fontconfig/fonts.conf
:<selectfont> <rejectfont> <pattern> <patelt name="family"> <string>EmojiSymbols</string> </patelt> </pattern> </rejectfont> </selectfont>
- (Stopped working even after I only changed
-
@potmeklecbohdan I don't really use the menu, but for me it seems to work with noto emojis.
When I set it up the first time I had to jump a few hoops though. I don’t find the source anymore, but I made a file in
etc/fonts
calledlocal.conf
with all the substitutions.<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE fontconfig SYSTEM "fonts.dtd"> <fontconfig> <!-- Add emoji generic family --> <alias binding="strong"> <family>emoji</family> <default> <family>Noto Color Emoji</family> </default> </alias> <!-- Aliases for the other emoji fonts --> <alias binding="strong"> <family>Apple Color Emoji</family> <prefer> <family>Noto Color Emoji</family> </prefer> </alias> <alias binding="strong"> <family>Segoe UI Emoji</family> <prefer> <family>Noto Color Emoji</family> </prefer> </alias> <alias binding="strong"> <family>Noto Color Emoji</family> <prefer> <family>Noto Color Emoji</family> </prefer> </alias> <alias binding="strong"> <family>Android Emoji</family> <prefer> <family>Noto Color Emoji</family> </prefer> </alias> <alias binding="strong"> <family>Emojisymbols</family> <prefer> <family>Noto Color Emoji</family> </prefer> </alias> <alias binding="strong"> <family>Emojione Mozilla</family> <prefer> <family>Noto Color Emoji</family> </prefer> </alias> <alias binding="strong"> <family>Twemoji Mozilla</family> <prefer> <family>Noto Color Emoji</family> </prefer> </alias> <alias binding="strong"> <family>Segoe Ui Symbol</family> <prefer> <family>Noto Color Emoji</family> </prefer> </alias> <!-- Do not allow any app to use Symbola, ever --> <selectfont> <rejectfont> <pattern> <patelt name="family"> <string>Symbola</string> </patelt> </pattern> </rejectfont> </selectfont> </fontconfig>

VB-72574 "Reload tab menu has no numbers"
//EDIT: Wooaaaaa!
Works with EN-US, EN-UK and FR but not DE language.
Localization is a hell.This is a small mistake in the German translation. I've notified the translator group so it should be fixed for the next snapshot.
