I just have a standard HP 2.6Ghz i5 laptop but it suits my current needs except Linux really heats up the CPU and seems useless for modern laptops. I've found almost all distros hinder the CPU unlike Windows but I've managed to find LXLE which is the best Linux for keeping the CPU cool even when playing video but I did have to swap VIDEOS to SMPLAYER to achieve this. I'd much rather have a desktop so I could use Linux as I'd love to use BunsenLabs OS and continue my love of the old Crunchbang distro which was by far the best lightweight linux for looks, feel and compatibility (deb packages etc).

Over 5,000 games since buying my 1st one which was Doom back in 1993It's all good having high spec systems but is the power wattage really worth the performance? I can have a laptop that fits my needs (except stuck on Windows 8.1) and I'm pulling at max 65 watts including a screen etc. If we want to look at things from a power angle then you start to see how much energy we're wasting with desktops. I was shocked to find that my old desktop processor will pull around 200 watts with the coreduo. If we have power cuts in the future can you run your computer off power supplied by a solar panel? All depends on your mind frame but with energy costs rocking and incomes low not to mention psy-op agendas like terrorism then we need to think a bit different. I remember one guy on Jewtube claiming he had powerful pcs but his wife was nagging about the cost of running them especially as he left them on downloading torrents. Did he really need to leave a high wattage system on just to download when a simple laptop would have done the trick? Either way he ended up buying an Apple iMac and claiming he'd found similar performance but with far less wattage and power drain. I doubt he'll be building powerful PCs again. All this reminds me of these Bitcoin miners and how the idea is no longer worth the time or day.
