Edit list of saved usernames?

  • I never save passwords in a browser - I use a separate wallet - but usernames are OK. My question is: is it possible to view and edit the list of saved usernames? The specific issue that prompts this question is that I clumsily typed a username but didn't realise I had mis-clicked the password field when I typed the password. Result: Vivaldi has stored the username twice, once with the password appended in plain text. It wold be nice to find an editable list of usernames, or at least to be able to, say, right-click on the list of potential usernames in the drop-down list to delete names that are no longer wanted. Is it possible? (Thanks)

@megadyne There is not setting or list existing you can edit.

But in a form field you can select a entry with Cursor↓ and hit ⇑+Del to delete it.

If you do not want to save such field entries you can disable such autofill:

    1. Open internal page chrome://settings/addresses
    2. Switch "Save and fill addresses" to gray
    3. Close settings

    Hi,
Actually it is possible, but not from V itself, AFAIK.
You will need to edit the WebData file with an SQLite DB editor.

If interested, I'll search the posted message.

  • Thank you all for good suggestions. I'll try them asap (a busy day is well under way!) . Zalex108, if it's not too much trouble that wold be interesting. Otherwise I'll try searching for it myself.

    You could try SQLiteStudio.

    Then,
just edit or delete the entries on the Autofill > Data branch and Commit changes.

You can check the rest of data also.

To find your profile, follow the signature's "Vivaldi Back up / Reset" links or @Gwen-Dragon link's info.

Do a back up of the file before proceed.

OK, using the Cursor(down) selected the offending entry, but Del on its own didn't delete it; however Shift+Del did delete it. So that immediate problem is solved. Thank you! Now I'll try the more complicated routes ...

You are right. I typed too fast and missed to add Shift text/or character. I changed it now in my previous post.

Yes, give editing of the related WebData database with SQLIteBrowser a chance.
And please tell us which solution fits for you.

Shift+Del is more for individual entries.
SQLite file edition is easier to edit / delete in bulk for some tasks like:

    • Copy data from one Profile to another.
    • Edit Search Engines. [V uses other file/System, but it works on other browsers and maybe on V at some point too.]
    • Create a Template Profile, after setting it up, clean up unwanted entries faster.
    • Edit / Manage some other settings there or in other SQLite files, LogIn Data, History...

And probably many more I don't know 😄

  • OK, so I installed SQLiteStudio (new to me), dusted off my knowledge of SQL from 10 years ago, and had a look at Web Data. Interesting, and certainly useful for the future, but overkill for my present problem. So: thanks to Zalex108 for showing me how to do that and thanks to Gwen-Dragon for the quick fix that worked and the link to the SuperUser conversation. As far as I am concerned, that answers my question.
