Very first super first
-
@stardepp: Congrats. It was an early one and the early bird gets the worm 🪱!
-
I am happy about every new update also because of the main photos in the blog post
-
@stardepp: The accent/Razer color issues were the most complained about. The image is a nod to that fix.
-
@Ruarí Lol. People cannot reliably edit the address bar. Complain about colouring. Now that's weird.
-
@jumpsq: It was only while the page was loading. Fast connection or wait and it works. I suspect many never even noticed it. Much less reports about that. Either way... they are both fixed now.
-
"sorry we're having trouble playing this video"...hi..i am getting these messages on facebook.
Puppy linux 32bit..I never experienced this until updating a few moments ago.
-
That is odd as they are playing perfectly now....i am so sorry to have bothered you with this .please consider it working now and my sincere apologies.
-
@priest72: It just required the restart. The codecs needed are installed in the background on first startup (if you are using a non-official install method). This is the issue you saw
-
@gwen-dragon: Restart once and it works
-
@gwen-dragon: Also why would you delete /var/opt/vivaldi? The report feels a bit like, I broke it and it broke.
-
@gwen-dragon: But you need to restart anyway. Because we don't fallback whilst the browser is running, i.e. we don't unload and then dynamically reload a new lib and we never have. It all happens on startup.
-
Testing it is tricky because the system I wrote to fix things is pretty aggressive in trying to correct broken codecs.
But you should be able to, like so:
- Shutdown Vivaldi and open a terminal
- Issue:
export VIVALDI_FFMPEG_AUTO=0
- Issue:
sudo rm -r ~/.local/lib/vivaldi /var/opt/vivaldi
- Issue:
vivaldi&
You should then see this message in startup
Now only open codecs will play.
P.S. I tested the webm you linked and it works fine but on the example site it is not trying to load this because they specify h.264 first. That is something we have failed to handle well for an exceptionally long time on Linux. On the plus side a restart would, in the vast majority of cases, allow the h.264 version to load anyway... so not exactly the worst issue (nor is it in any way related to the changes in this update) but yes it is technically incorrect.

It seems like with the new private window theme, even if you have a window background image configured so it appears with your theme, if you select it as a private theme the private windows won't use the window background image. Someone pointed this out on the 3.3 release post, but no one replied. Is this a known issue?

@Ruarí
VB-71391: Unfortunately not fixed here, while waiting for Resolving host... for example withhttp://novalidsite
, if you go to the end of the url and holdBackspace
orCtrl+A, Del
to delete, the url is showing up again continually.I think it was also reported that this happens as well with other protocols that try to open an application and you cancel it, for example:
ppp: test
P.S. Any progress with the flashbangs? VB-71409. The cat doesn't like it

Thank you! However since this major version, I am unable to play most videos on my old Macbook Pro from 2011. It may be that the graphics chip is being blacklisted as old but it worked slightly better before 3.3.
