      @atlemo said in Private Window Themes – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2022.6:

      @sjudenim: The contrast in your theme is very low to begin with, and that propagates to the other colors. You'll need to increase the brightness of the Foreground color to fix this. But the first screenshots you shared does not look like Vivaldi at tall - is it a different browser, or just heavily modified Vivaldi?

      I don't use high contrast or bright colours at night, it's harder on the eyes. I certainly can't be the only one?...

      I've been using this to compensate on darker themes

      .UrlFragment-Wrapper--ShouldHighlight {
        --HighlightColor: var(--colorFgIntense);
        --LowlightColor: var(--colorFgFaded);
      }

      but because of the calculation being made for the variables, I run into the issue on light themes where the domain is lighter
      and less emphasized.

      This is the calculation result on a white(ish) theme
      --colorBg: hsl(180deg 8% 97%);
      --colorFg: hsl(208deg 8% 47%);
      --colorFgAlpha: hsl(208deg 8% 47% / 10%);
      --colorFgIntense: hsl(208deg 9% 61%);
      --colorFgFaded: hsl(207deg 10% 34%);
      --colorFgFadedMore: hsl(208deg 15% 22%);
      --colorFgFadedMost: hsl(208deg 17% 20%);

      The contrast between the bg and fg is sufficient, but rather than being faded (lightened), the fg is being darkened.

        "Highlighting the base domain"
        This is a very nice improvement, thank you!

          @saudiqbal This rule fails for you? I remember this block full domain was introduced in Vivaldi:
          ||example.com^$document

          I just tried it and it is not working, uploaded it onto my server

          ! Title: Private Filters
          ! Expires: 7 days
          ||facebook.com^$document

          Update: looks like it is working in beta and not in stable. I ll wait for the stable to be updated.

            Hilighting base domain should be in bold letters!

            Completely agree 👍
            Vivaldi should dare to be different and not copy-cat what other browsers do just because some obscure research has told Chromium developers that us poor users are "confused" by complicated URLs.

            This is what I have now, maybe it's useful:
            dac4f667-f465-42e8-8b67-e523c4924001-image.png

            /* URL Bar no lowlight */
            .UrlFragment-Wrapper {
            	color: unset;
            }
            /* URL Bar scheme part */
            .UrlFragment--Lowlight:first-of-type {
            	color: var(--colorFgFaded);
            }

            /* URL Bar host part */
            .UrlFragment-HostFragment-Subdomain, .UrlFragment-HostFragment-Basedomain, .UrlFragment-HostFragment-TLD {
            	color: unset !important;
            	font-weight: bold;
            }

            > BTW, today I cannot connect to mozdev.org, would you know why?
            Maybe that big lizard escaped and ate the server admins? :-)

              This is not the case with Ubuntu

              Bug : open the Address Bar Settings and under Address Field Drop-Down Menu tick Include Browser History
              Close and reopen the settings,the setting is deselected.
              Confirm?

                @claudio Noticed that too when I messed around today, but the bug is only visual, the setting still sticks.

                  Now it's time to go one step further and add the ability to set a theme for different websites. 😃

                    Last several snapshots changed how they render background colour on pages that don't have it set – previously it was always white, now Vivaldi seems to take the colour from my OS settings. Unfortunately this makes a lot of pages unreadable, since I use a dark high contrast theme in Windows, which sets background to (nearly) black, and Vivaldi does not use the Windows text colour for text (but that'd only help on pages that set neither background, nor text colours, and there's unfortunately a lot of pages that do set text to black while ignoring the background).

                    Here's a minimal sample page, and this is how it renders for me in 3.3.2022.6:
                    Screenshot of above link

                      Interesting, I was facing the opposite problems when I once tried to set default colour scheme in FF to dark bg & light text…

                        This setting seems to be present since the previous snapshot, but isn’t mentioned in the changelogs: vivaldi.quick_commands.use_notes_manager.

                        Regarding the private window theme, will we get the possibility to just keep it the same as in normal windows?

                          Unless I misunderstand your question, that is already the case.

                            @Ayespy Now when you change the normal theme you also have to manually change the one in private windows, I just want the single change to affect both.

                              @potmeklecbohdan Well, that would not seem to be an option at present.

                                Icing on the cake for me would be the ability to use firefox personas with vivaldi..Chrome themes are not in the same league as mozilla's.

                                  @potmeklecbohdan That should be a really simple fix, they just need to add “use current” to the list or as a checkbox beside it. Not quite sure why it hasn’t been implemented immediately. This would also allow the private theme to be scheduled.

                                    Scheduling private theme would also be good separately, but I’m not really sure how the settings would look like w/o repeating the section (and still keeping private theme scheduling independent).

                                      does anyone (from the moderators) know, if the bug, that in a new guest window the text at the adressbar (vivaldi://guest-intro/) is not highlighted, so that it has to be marked first, is already known and/or reported?
                                      If not, I do it

                                        @derDay I've tested this, and it seems you are right. Please go ahead and file the bug. I know developers are working on issues concerning the new, separate Private Window theme. I have no guest windows or profiles, but it strikes me this may be related.

                                          [OT] Why is Vivaldi.com asking me to download Vivaldi, even if I'm already using it?

                                            @newscpq it's not "asking" you do download it, if you mean the download button on bottom of the page when you scroll down, it's just there for those reading the features list and if they are convinced to do so, the button is already visible without having to scroll back to top.
