Wait, I've just updated it yesterday, didn't I?
-
@pafflick: Yes but then yesterday evening this came out https://chromereleases.googleblog.com/2020/08/stable-channel-update-for-desktop_18.html (without much in the way of warning)
We obviously did not to leave it too long because people would be starting to upgrade to the last one, so we tried to get it out ASAP, meaning those that have not upgraded yet could skip over. For Windows users it will not matter too much anyway because they get delta updates and it will be a tiny download
-
With regards to the USA today (lichess) fix, we tested publicly in a snapshot and it seems OK, so there will likely be another minor update with a fix for that before 3.3.
-
@ruarí: why isnt the linux community supporting delta updates? this is so degenerated!
-
@Joolz Depends on the package manager.
-
@luetage: why tf? im on linux mint and manjaro.
-
@Joolz Does Manjaro use pacman? If so support has been removed in the past. Debian/Ubuntu (your mint is based on either one or the other) don’t have delta updates installed by default and don’t know whether you can make it work. On Fedora delta updates can be enabled, but the default threshold in differences to trigger the delta update is likely too low for a typical Vivaldi update. I wonder whether setting it higher would trigger it. Gotta try it sometime.
-
@joolz: dep/apt have no support for delta updates. Snaps do, however. That said Mint removed snap support, so basically you cannot get delta.
-
@ruarí: This is something I've wondered about for a while. Do you know if apt has plans for delta? I'm on MX Linux, which is on Debian 10.

10th :knight:

@ruarí: Thank you. I was disappointed after installing 3.2.1967.47 that the Snapshot fix was not (yet) included. Out of curiosity, have your developers identified exactly what the issue with USATODAY (and other Gannett sites) is? Obviously it's a problem on their end, but I know people there and would like to inform them about it.
-
I would be ok to just download and install stable builds and inter-snapshots are not compulsory.?
-
@ruarí: Just out of curiosity, if it's possible to do this within a day, why did the last one take a full week (after the Chromium bump)? I know that the earlier one had around 15 security fixes and this one only had 1, but it doesn't seem like that would be the reason.
-
Version 3.2.1967.47 (Stable channel) (64 bits) Archlinux constantly crash loading random pages.(dead bird)
-
@joeduffus @Ruarí Yes, I would like to know what the issue was, as well.
-
@gwen-dragon: I'll try it! Thanks

The version number (desktop-stable) in the blog window, upper right corner, is still at 1967.41, but is already at .47.
-
