The problem in vivaldi forum is only partly fixed
A child page retains the login status, but a new one opened (say) from the speedial doesn't

Thanks to all for reporting. Unfortunately, this bug is still not fixed yet. We trying to fix it ASAP.

I still suffer from short average login sessions (using Vivaldi). Usually the sessions doesn't survive much longer than two days.

Hello Vivaldi team,
why is it that no one really seems to care? It's a major pita to have to re-login every other day!

I could not speak for the team, but it's likely that a cookie timeout of 48 or 72 hours is probably intentional.
For my own part, having to re-log-in once every day or two is utterly trivial. I don't do anything or go anywhere on the web where I expect to stay logged in for a week at a time. It not only it not a PITA for me, it really kind of has no impact at all.
It's possible if enough of a stink is made, they might change their cookie policy. I'm no real authority on this. I'm just puzzled that it's an issue for anyone, that's all.

Hi Ayespy,
I'm just puzzled that it's an issue for anyone, that's all.
I have 20 - 30 logins I'm using more or less daily. One week is the minimum I do expect, everything less on a "simple" community site doesn't make any sense to me. At least, I does not increase security.
But you're right it's nothing I would start a war for.

Yeah. Mostly, I don't leave my machine on over a stretch of days. When I do, it stays logged in. Don't know why.
I have two sites I stay logged-in to on a chronic basis: Gmail and Vivaldi. In the morning when I fire up the rig, I jump to my pinned forum page and click the login button. Done. I scan my gmail accounts (which have stayed logged in, but still have to load and display) for spam and remove it. My day is off and running.

The only time I ever have to to log in again is when I update to a new Vivaldi snapshot.

To make it worse, I'm running my core sessions on my private and business "machines". Yes, it's not a killer, but sometimes really sort of … you know.
The only time I ever have to to log in again is when I update to a new Vivaldi snapshot.
You can switch it off for say 1 week, and unless you do an immediate update your Vivaldi session would still be there after reboot?
Now that's interesting - indicating the cause is on my side after all. Hmm, needs more thinking. Thanks to both for your feedback, really appreciated.

Hi guys,
actually, you shouldn't enter login/pass every time. Proably, you need to clean cookies and check the clear installation of Vivaldi.
Thanks!
-
Yes, I really want this cookie rule thing changed. I want it to be like Facebook, where I'm always logged in no matter what. Give us, the users, choice. It's annoying to be logged out and have to log back in twice a day.

I would be curious to learn if ANYONE can turn their machine off overnight and , when starting Vivaldi again the next morning, see themselves still logged in. I can stay logged in indefinitely, it seems, if I leave my machine on for a week. But if I turn it off overnight, it has NEVER been the case that I'm still logged in in the morning.

Hi Shpankov,
I've just created a completely new profile with Beta 2 (do that every once in a while anyway). I guess this is what you mean with "clean cookies and clear installation"? That didn't change anything. Nevertheless I will try again, this time by deleting all Vivaldi-cookies once again. edit: cookies just deleted.

Thanks!@Ayespy: Just for confirmation, my "premature session loss" requires a restart of Vivaldi (directly or via Windows reboot), of course.

Hi,
after updating to the last snapshot for 2015 I sort of tried to log what's going on.
With some browser restarts my Vivaldi.net-Session did not survive even 2 days (23.12/13:00 - 25.12/08:00). Regarding the numbers of cookies listed in the settings there is some loss. Maybe that's the cause (and not the result) of the observations some people have reported?
Unfortunately I have no clue how to dissect this any further efficiently.someone

quite annoying
