Multiple Settings Dialogs
-
I have two monitors. I can open a settings dialog on each of them. Is that a bug, or is it intentional? It does not serve any useful purpose that I can think of, changing any setting affects both monitors and is immediately reflected in each Settings dialog.
It might be useful if we could use Independent UI Zoom factors per Window

@Pesala the settings are for Vivaldi globally, not the Vivaldi window that spawned the settings. If you wanted to you could open an unlimited number of settings tabs, it doesn't really change anything.
I'm not sure why this could be considered a bug.

I submitted a bug report for this as I see more downsides than benefits.
(VB-82479) Multiple Settings Dialogs From Multiple Windows
-
@pesala I'd say it's a bug too (or at least can lead to bugs).
One curious thing I did was open a Settings dialog from a private window - got the private look and feel, which felt strange.
But I figured that as long as they were synchronized, there wouldn't rally be a bug. And for the most part they are - if I check one option in one of the Settings dialog, it is immediately checked in the other one as well.Where things started getting weird was when I tried to add a search engine - the new entry showed up straight away in the other one, but the edits were not synchronized. So if, for instance, I hanged the name of the filter, the list is updated with the new name but not the form; if I then add a nickname on the other dialog the nickname is updated in both lists but the name reverts to the original "New search engine" or whatever.
Even weirder when I tried mail - creating a new mail filter did not sync between the two dialogs at all. Even after the filter was fully created, the other dialog didn't show it. (actually, now that I'm writing this, I just realized that my previously created filters only show up on the dialog corresponding to the window that has the mail )
I know it's a bit of a stretch to actually cause problems with this, but it wouldn't be the first time I find myself having opened two Settings windows (from normal windows, that look the same) so I guess it's not completely inconceivable it could happen... feel free to add any of these to your bug report if you will...
