Save as when downloading a file
-
So I have just been downloading some files with Vivaldi and when I click "Save As" it does the same thing as clicking save. The files suddenly save into the default save folder.. Needs fixing...

Works fine if you uncheck "always download to default location" in settings and pick a folder you like. Then it will always ask where you want the download to go, and comply with your instructions.

It's not ticked in my options… That's not the issue!
BTW... Running version: 1.0.303.52

OK, then. I don't know what the problem is. Works perfectly here.

ATTENTION:
Only try this if you are having problems, Vivaldi already has settings for changing Download location and to always save in the default directory under settings -> downloadsThe original message follows:
Well, the profile got messed up. If you do a clean profile it will surely work as expected. Upgrades from technical previews are never safe. You can try though checking in this page: vivaldi://settings/search#download
Look for something like "Ask where to save each file", here it's unchecked. If it's checked, uncheck; and if it's already unchecked try checking and then unchecking again.

"Ask where to save each file" has been replaced in Vivaldi by its obverse, "Always save files to default download location." (which must be disabled).
I have noticed that in the last three snapshots, including the Beta, certain values have been set in the profile, and these continue to rule, ALTHOUGH the opposite value is checked in the Tools/Settings menus after the update to the new snapshot. It strikes me that you may be exactly right that a value which appears to be set right needs to be set the other way, browser restarted, and then set the way you want, browser restarted again, in order to "wake up" the settings in the dialogue so that they actually enact the choice of the user.

ok, Ive noticed it's only happening with I try save a file from https://mega.nz.
So for some reason when the file has finished downloading from Mega and save or save as comes up and I tell it to save as so I can tell the file where I want it to save, this is where I'm finding this issue.

@muck This may actually be a Chromium thing, not specific to Vivaldi.
Might this be of help? https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/downloads-overwrite-exist/fkomnceojfhfkgjgcijfahmgeljomcfk
Disclaimer: Never used it myself, just fruits from a superficial Google search -
@kgbme
In early versions of Vivaldi this setting was not available in the Vivaldi settings, so there were hacks. Like the one I pointed and the one QuHno posted.Nowadays you shouldn't mess with that. They are hacks and you can't expect hacks to work or expect support for them.
I've edited my post and the post by QuHno to say that this hack is no longer necessary and that the user should not use it. Thanks for the report.
