Closing window crashes and closes all windows
-
Closing a Vivaldi window opened with the --app parameter closes all other Vivaldi Windows and appears to crash (generates dump). I have reported this as VB-68823.
I first noticed this in 3.1, I did not see this in 3.0.
Steps to reproduce
- Create a shortcut to open a site as an app
- C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Vivaldi\Application\vivaldi.exe --app=https://www.duckduckgo.com
- Open the shortcut
- Open a normal instance of Vivaldi
- Close the instance opened in Step 1.
- Notice both instances are closed.
- Navigate to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Vivaldi\User Data\Crashpad\reports
- Notice a crash dump was generated
I put duckduckgo as an example. We use app shortcuts for our daily webapps, especially remote desktop and other rich apps where window decoration and tabs gets in the way of using the webapps.
What is particularly frustrating about this bug is having 5 or 6 webapps going, and then closing one of them crashes all of the others immediately losing any work you were in the middle of doing. -
Thanks for the reply. Since it is a 3.2 snapshot, do you think the change will make it into 3.1? Or will it wait until 3.2 is released?

@Gwen-Dragon
I tried out the snapshot and it is indeed fixed. I thought maybe it got fixed under this fix:
[Crash] beforeunload handler added after page load causes crash when page is closed (VB-68683)
Which has been merged into 3.1.1929.45, but I still get the crash in that build. I guess it was fixed under VB-68823 but not noted in the snapshot release notes?
