Solved Why is history only stored for 3 months, and how can I store it longer?
-
Vivaldi introduced a feature that I didn't even know I needed, and then hamstrung it. Vivaldi's history is amazing, and, while not my most frequently used tool, when I do use it, I love it... until I found out that the data is being aged out. History should be forever. That is why it is history. Socrates is still important today, and so is my browser history. How can I stop Vivaldi from ageing out my history, and keep the important information I spent hours and days researching 6 months ago, a year ago, and now need to revisit today? I don't want to recreate the wheel just because of some random 3 month limit on my history! Please help us to be able to remove this ridiculous handicapping of a fabulously useful feature.
Thanks,

@artpoetryfiction
Hi check vivaldi://settings/privacy/ and change setting to "Forever".
It will make Vivaldi slower over time as some user reported.Cheers, mib

Settings / Privacy / Save Browsing History
It's a dropdown, set it to Forever.
Edit: looks like @mib2berlin was writing at the same time I was.

FWIW, this setting has been available since at least 2017. That's when I set it to Forever myself.

@artpoetryfiction The browsing history can changed in Settings, Privacy. “Session Only” does not work as expected. This is an old bug that I reported on (14/6/2019), and a significant privacy issue.
