Double Chromium bump – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1916.3

Ugh, on Linux the entire app seems to have been zoomed by a few percent
Nope not here... still seems fine for me in Manjaro [Stable-branch] KDE.Well well, look at that... in contrast to Manjaro, & in-line with the OP, in my Arch KDE system this new Snapshot is indeed conspicuously larger. How weird!
Pleasingly however, the previous Snapshot's unfortunate tab-stack's tab-selection bug seems fixed now. Swings & roundabouts.
EDIT:
Unlike the OP's claim though, in my case with my Arch's V-SS, i can revert to more or less my prior UI scaling simply by adjusting theUser Interface Zoom
down from 100% to 90%. Historically this has frequently broken the uMatrix extension's UI, so i hope that won't be a returning hassle also here this time. -
Crashed twice now for me since yesterday evening. Not yet sure what's the reason, can probably always be related to extensions, although I was not loading a new page when it happened. Will see if I can find a way to reproduce it.
// Probably unrelated to the patch. I still wonder why chromium just crashes when your disk is running full.

-
@potmeklecbohdan True. I was thinking of this though:
@bib_vivaldi said in Double Chromium bump – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1916.3:It's got nothing to do with that.
...from which it seems like the OP either did not try it, or tried it but feels it is unsuccessful for them. I was merely indicating that in my case at least, it seems to be a reasonable workaround... so far [pending anticipated uM UI breakage, sooner or later].
-
@steffie: Yes, I did not change the UI zoom setting, because there is an underlying problem. Making that change just hides it instead of getting fixed.
The zoom setting should not change from version to version.
-
@bib_vivaldi I don't disagree in principle, but i am also pragmatic. My hopefully-temporary workaround still allows me to stay with the new version, not revert to an older ergo less secure version, & yet still approximate my visually-preferred V UI [if i ignore for now that numerically i am temporarily using a different %].
-
Potential new bug? Pls can anyone confirm if they can see the page https://www.usatoday.com/ in the new Snapshot? It was fine for me in the previous version, is still fine in Stable, but now for me, on both my PCs, with the new version, the page stays blank -- in normal window, in Private Window, in Guest Window, & in my secondary profile window.
Whoops, it just appeared ... i might have a cookie problem instead, still checking.
Yep, cookie problem -- Mod, pls can you delete this invalid post?

@Steffie
Actually the bug about the UI scale vs extensions popup still exist. [VB-39040]
Several extensions fixed this updating the [popup] code but several ones marked this aswontfix
as chrome don't have a UI rescaling.
So staying at 100% UI or replacing the addon is the only workaround I know. -
@Hadden89 Thank you, that's sad/frustrating, as uMatrix is a mandatory extension for me, & as i feared, since my previous post in this thread, it is constantly now breaking again with me having had to drop my UI to 90%. Of course it is instantly good again with 100%, but then this new Snapshot UI bug makes everything unpleasantly huge. Roll on next Snapshot.
-
@Steffie On some extensions this specific VB is even worse. Cookie Auto Delete and several extensions managers for example never get a correct [popup] size. But usually, in well coded extensions like uM, the 100% UI workaround always work.

Every update lately brings back all the default search engines I delete.
-
@npro Default engines aren’t being deleted anymore when you hit delete. Instead they just get a ‘removed’ flag and stay in storage. Not sure how and why the entries change in your case.

[Settings] Move Updates into General settings category (VB-67185)
Might as well remove the "Page Load Progress Bar" option from the Address Bar settings as it is effectively already in the Tabs settings. (unchecking the box is the same as selecting None)
-
@Frederic_Chopin Nope. The option in tabs is for an indicator on background tabs, while the one in address bar is for the progress indicator in the address field for active tab.
-
@lonm: Just as an FYI, the ftp was put back in Chr (or not yet removed), because of covid-19. As it will probably breaks decades old processes, doing so during a crisis with not everybody working from their offices, it was judged that postponing this change would be better.
-
@mib2berlin: Yes, I use native window, but I think it's to do with different DPI settings. Most distros set the default to 75. I've corrected mine.

@kened None are planned yet as far as I know, but there are several feature requests for Picture-in-Picture. Search also for "PiP" and "Video" and vote for what you want.

He has done that request already if you click on that link , he just likes repeating the same things every 5 days like they are used to do in the Opera blog comments for years
-
@luetage I know what is the cause of it, if you delete the search engines and change Vivaldi's language they return. Time to report a bug I guess.

It seems that Auto-Close Inactive Panel is not working with custom added web panels. Anyone else?
