Double Chromium bump – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1916.3
-
@Hadden89 I submitted a Bug Report for this Feature Request.
(VB-67565) Move The Network Proxy Settings to the General Tab in Settings
-
@bib_vivaldi What is your UI Zoom in Settings, Appearance? Just adjust it to your liking.
-
@bib_vivaldi Be careful of going back to an older build. This snap has an engine bump which could change the underlying profile structure, and reverting to an older build could break things.
-
It's got nothing to do with that.
Run 1916 and the entire app, everything, is around 10 to 20% bigger.
Revert to 1906 and it goes back to what it was. The way it has always been.
Reinstall 1916 and it all gets bigger.
Revert to 1906 and back to normal.
Nothing at all to do with the UI Zoom settings.

@bib_vivaldi Linux is very diverse - could you let us know
- Your DE
- Your Distro
- Graphics card / drivers
-
Ta, but I've so far found no problems reverting.
-
@bib_vivaldi Could you answer the question @LonM made or don't you want to be helped? He asked some questions to try help you find the culprit on YOUR system, because unless other people report the same issue, it's clearly a malfuncion on your particular setup, so the more info you give, the better.

opensuse 15/1/kde/Intel i965. I have logged a bug report. Interested if other Linux users have found this.
-
@ian-coog: Give me a break. I replied to one post, which then stalls before I can post again, and I am not going to continually hit the post button.
-
Native notifications for Windows 10 are still broken, tested in a VM. 3.0.1874.27 works properly so I'll stick to that.

No such problem here !?
-
@bib_vivaldi No such change happening here.
I did a quick search through the Chromium changelog (linked from our changelog) and think (only think) it may have something to do with fa9756916c92bcd5a6c71e2c9168b8873ff7f75b or 2c2f5494a322aef5ba95e0e32a459bdef5ec1e29 (I haven’t studied them very thoroughly, I only
Ctrl-F
-ed the changelog for “scale”) -
@bib_vivaldi
I use Tumbleweed and don´t have this issue.
Do you use native window setting?Cheers, mib
-
@av1: We also need multiple tab rows.
-
@AV1 yeah and Vivaldi-team please consider all these here https://forum.vivaldi.net/category/113/feature-requests-for-desktop
-
@potmeklecbohdan: Yup, that is a possibility.
Most distros set the DPI to be 75, but I've set mine up to be correct at 109.
-
I've checked on the latest chromium unstable, and I see the same issue.
I've raised a bug report with them.
Thanks for the pointer potmeklecbohdan.

I’ve noticed a new option in settings to inherit the date and time format from operating system. This is a welcome change. I wonder what happens if I manage to tweak my system to show ISO8601, not quite sure Vivaldi will be able to pick this up.

Ugh, on Linux the entire app seems to have been zoomed by a few percent
Nope not here... still seems fine for me in Manjaro [Stable-branch] KDE.Well well, look at that... in contrast to Manjaro, & in-line with the OP, in my Arch KDE system this new Snapshot is indeed conspicuously larger. How weird!
Pleasingly however, the previous Snapshot's unfortunate tab-stack's tab-selection bug seems fixed now. Swings & roundabouts.
EDIT:
Unlike the OP's claim though, in my case with my Arch's V-SS, i can revert to more or less my prior UI scaling simply by adjusting theUser Interface Zoom
down from 100% to 90%. Historically this has frequently broken the uMatrix extension's UI, so i hope that won't be a returning hassle also here this time. -
Crashed twice now for me since yesterday evening. Not yet sure what's the reason, can probably always be related to extensions, although I was not loading a new page when it happened. Will see if I can find a way to reproduce it.
// Probably unrelated to the patch. I still wonder why chromium just crashes when your disk is running full.
