@Pathduck said in Guide | Vivaldi search engines collection :
@iAN-CooG Yes, they broke it again. I can't be arsed to figure out the POST stuff so now I just use:
https://lens.google.com/uploadbyurl?url={google:imageURL}
as Image Search URLProbably more future-proof than having to mess with the POST image encoding.
I'm not sure how to use this (can you explain?) but for you and @iAN-CooG i'd like to point out it is still possible to use the classic, non-lens version of the Google Reverse Image Search via Right Click > Search by Image in a older version of Vivaldi I happen to still be using:
@jabberwockxeno said in Search for image (using Google) Does Not work:
I can still use the classic, non-lens reverse search via Vivaldi's Right Click > Search By Image option on my version of Vivaldi, which is Vivaldi 6.1.3035.111 / Chrome 114.0.5735.204
As proof, here's a screenshot, I just did this right now.
So, clearly, it is still possible to access this form of reverse search, if configured right....
That post of mine in the other thread has more info.
So, if it's still possible to do in older versions of Vivaldi then there should be a way to re-add the functionality in current versions of Vivaldi?
If there's anything I can do to help other people reverse engineer this or whatever, let me know!

@jabberwockxeno I think it's up to the devs managing what to do, if they actually care to fix their browser's features

Another one for the List, GetPage with a lot of features, even with an inbuild translator, privacy focused, no logging or tracking.

@stardepp, nice one for the list, Ghosterysearch
https://ghosterysearch.com/search?q=%s
Independent index, private and the special feature to show ads, trackers and other crap waiting for us in the pages, listed in the search results. Something like an inbuild Blacklight service
If needed, more info

@Catweazle I have added it to the collection.
I am amazed at how you always find such interesting search engines.

@stardepp, easy, using the right search engine XD

Just stumbled upon this one:

Nice one to discover music you like
https://www.music-map.com/map-search.php?f=%s
From the same author search one by one similar bands or artists, introducing 1, 2 or 3 bands/artists you like
https://www.gnoosic.com/faves.phpWelcome to Gnod's World of Music
Gnod is a self-adapting system that learns about the outer world by asking its visitors what they like and what they don't like. In this instance of Gnod all is about music. Gnod is kind of a search engine for music you don't know about. It will ask you what music you like and then think about what you might like too. When I set Gnod online its database was completely empty. Now it contains hundreds of thousands of bands and quite some knowledge about who likes what. And Gnod learns more every day. Enjoy!

@Catweazle This search engine was already in my collection:

@Catweazle I'm curious about that

I have seen that in other threads you mention the "ContextSearch web-ext" extension. I love it, but I can't use it from the Vivaldi address bar. You know how to do it?

Copyseeker: Free Reverse Image Search
URL:
https://copyseeker.net/search?imageurl=%s
Image Search URL:https://copyseeker.net/search?imageurl={google:imageURL}
Pretty good reverse image search with a lot of results, although a bit slow to show the results.
@stardepp You kind of messed up the code blocks on the initial post. I'll try to fix it for you.
Fixed - it was just a single missing ` in there. -

I would like to create a search for Vivaldi Social
I'm not sure it's possible, at least I have not found a way to do it
Kind of sucks that an open platform like Mastodon does not have a way to search without first visiting the site. Possibly other Masto clients have a different search method that works.
-
@Pathduck, it seems it isn't possible. With Andi I found this in the GitHub page of Mastodon
