No support for password Android Autofill API? (3.0, Enpass)

@Gwen-Dragon said in No support for password Android Autofill API? (3.0, Enpass):
Bitwarden offers support for Vivaldi alright, but this is through the Bitwarden Accessibilty service rather than the Bitwarden Autofill Service (Android Autofill API).
But really, having to fallback to an accessibility service while an Autofill API existst is a pretty poor scenario for proper password autofill support.
Please continue working on Vivaldi's support for the Android Autofill API, including applying pressure at Android dev and/or Chroium dev.. -

Pressure? As a small company? How?
Join forces, make bonds. Many small browser and password management companies can sound a loud voice.

I have had the opportunity to test today.
Using Vivaldi for Android APK (ver. 3.4.2066.82) on Kindle Fire I can say that it does work using KeePassDroid (ver. 2.4.13) from the Amazon Store.
I chose it as it seemed to be one with the best ratings and most users.Until the issue with other software is remedied perhaps this is a working solution for you?
Is it possible there are Android version issues behind these other issues? (Just grasping at straws to figure why one works and one does not.)Kindle Fire (2018 - 8" -8ty gen.) Fire OS7.3.1.5 (I believe based on Android 9)

I don't have much to add except that I also wish this was implemented. I use Keepass2Android, it works in a lot of other apps and even other browsers (Chrome was ironically a late adopter of this API, but even it has had it for a while). This is not a deal-breaker for me - KP2A has great workarounds which work well, and I like Vivaldi a lot to look past this - but this absolutely needs to be implemented IMO.

@Gwen-Dragon
This is not a chromium issue. This is a vivaldi issue. I use both lastpass and 1password and they work fine with brave and opera on android. Those are based on chromium. This issue keeps me from using vivaldi as my browser of choice on android. And as an extension on a pc.
-
You can add microsoft edge browser to the list of chromium browsers on android that does function with the above password managers as well.
-
Do we have any news on this? I have raised a "bug" since months on 1password forums, but it seems to me it is a vivaldi bug... This is the reason I am still using chrome on android...
-
Same here. Lastpass states it supports "Android autofill framework" APIs (e.g. https://blog.lastpass.com/2018/03/lastpass-featured-googles-autofill-app-choice-android-oreo/), and indeed it works with Chrome or other chromium-based browsers like Edge with no extension needed. But NOT Vivaldi.
-
Vivaldi is the only browser that password autofill don't works. Please fix that. It can be a great browser
-
Bitwarden's article on Autofill, explains the different types of Autofill available by Android release, how to enable and test.
From that article
Android has many web browsers. It can be hard to keep up with them all. We have to add support for each browser individually. If auto-fill does not work on your browser, please report it at https://github.com/bitwarden/mobile/issues so that we can add support.
-
And Vivaldi browser still does not support the Android Autofill API....
Vivaldi should take responsibility and stop depending on the password managers to come up with awkward workarounds like Accessibility services.(I'm writing this from within the Microsoft Edge browser which, I am sad to say, is gradually becoming my daily mobile engine just because)
-
Just chiming in here, and wondering if there has been any updates/feedback on this? We're coming up on the 1 year anniversary of this thread. It certainly is a feature thats sorely missing, and depending on usage it ends up getting quite annoying over time.
-
It's not fixed yet,
But if you want to use the work around it works well enough to use.
Just disable "Android Autofill Service" and enable "Autofill Using Accessibility" and "Enpass Keyboard"
When using both of these if the Accessibility service doesn't work right away change the keyboard to Enpass and click "tap to fill" and search for your login.
The Accessibility service will work when you come to a login feature a pop up say "Autofill with Enpass" will pop up, tap it and a another widow shows up giving you options to chose to login with. click the one you want or search for it and it will autofill the login data.

I use 1Password and it doesn't work with Vivaldi on Android.
I want to love the browser, and I'm do, but I need autofill as the company I work for just changed and the new company has us log in through our phones.
Without autofill, it's going to be a massive pain to have to log into 1Password, copy my log in info, go back to Vivaldi and paste it.
As a result of Vivaldi not supporting autofill with 1Password yet, I'm going to have to move to another browser. As soon as Vivaldi supports autofill, I'm switching back though, as I really like the browser on both desktop and Android.
Here's hoping it happens soon.,
-
This takes too long. I'm moving to another browser
-
This has become absolutely ridiculous. I've been using a mix of Brave and Firefox, and they work great. Highly recommend both of them of you want a browser that works.

Hello @Gwen-Dragon
Do you have any updates on this Android issue please?
It seems something has been released a few months ago, but it doesn't solve properly the issue for many people (including me with Dashlane).
What is the status?
Thank you for your help!

@Gwen-Dragon Why is it that hard? That's very strange. I am kinda stuck on chrome because of that (I use 1Password)

Do not ask me, i am not a Google or Vivaldi developer.
Oh Ok, since u are moderator I thought you knew why is that. Literally I can't figure out why they are not implementing the Autofill API. And also 1Password doesn't want either on "legacy" mode that they used to have before autofill

Hi,
Do you save them then in V? (With exceptions)
You could Import them to the Desktop version, enable Sync and will be on the rest of Sync'ed Devices.
For those more sensitive, use the External PassManager despite the Extra Steps.
