No support for password Android Autofill API? (3.0, Enpass)
-
I really like the new Vivaldi for Android. But beside missing extensions, I can not get my password manager Enpass to work with it.
Is this a bug or does Vivaldi simply not support password managers in general? Either way, support for password managers is really an essential feature.
-
Thanks for this information. Hopefully this gets implemented soon, as it is a deal breaker for me.
-
This really is needed. I'd love to use Vivaldi but it's not possible until Dashlane can work with it.
-
For Enpass a workaround would to enable the keyboard feature, Its hit and miss sometimes.
-
Can confirm this is an issue with Keepass2Android too and still not working despite turning off Passwords in Vivaldi Settings. Doesn't work with web apps. Originally thought Swiftkey was the issue. This is huge and I can't see why it hasn't been fixed yet. This is not just a bug but makes Vivaldi on Android go from being my primary browser to a browser I can't use.
-
Autofill also not working on Android 10 and Enpass password manager.
No problems in Firefox or Chrome. -

I just upgraded to Android Snapshot 3.4.2038.4 and Enpass 6.5.1.399 and it only works using the Enpass Keyboard feature, it also has a search feature so no more copy and paste.
Vivaldi doesn't recognize the auto fill for the password manager but it does for it's own passwords.

This issue also makes the browser a no go for me.

@Gwen-Dragon Can we get a status update on VB-57120? I realize that there is no public facing bugtracker that we can look up hence why I'm poking you

Bump.
I have trouble putting "highest priority" in perspective. Maybe one of the developers could give us some explanation of the challenges he/she is faced with in order for us to understand why it's taking longer than we'd prefer? -

VB-57120
Shouldn't be this a
VAB
issue being on Android? -
@Gwen-Dragon can you tell us about the current status? Is there any progress?
-
@Gwen-Dragon thanks for your response, but is it really a chromium bug? At least in Chrome itself it is working.
-
@Gwen-Dragon said in No support for password Android Autofill API? (3.0, Enpass):
Bitwarden offers support for Vivaldi alright, but this is through the Bitwarden Accessibilty service rather than the Bitwarden Autofill Service (Android Autofill API).
But really, having to fallback to an accessibility service while an Autofill API existst is a pretty poor scenario for proper password autofill support.
Please continue working on Vivaldi's support for the Android Autofill API, including applying pressure at Android dev and/or Chroium dev.. -

Pressure? As a small company? How?
Join forces, make bonds. Many small browser and password management companies can sound a loud voice.

I have had the opportunity to test today.
Using Vivaldi for Android APK (ver. 3.4.2066.82) on Kindle Fire I can say that it does work using KeePassDroid (ver. 2.4.13) from the Amazon Store.
I chose it as it seemed to be one with the best ratings and most users.Until the issue with other software is remedied perhaps this is a working solution for you?
Is it possible there are Android version issues behind these other issues? (Just grasping at straws to figure why one works and one does not.)Kindle Fire (2018 - 8" -8ty gen.) Fire OS7.3.1.5 (I believe based on Android 9)

I don't have much to add except that I also wish this was implemented. I use Keepass2Android, it works in a lot of other apps and even other browsers (Chrome was ironically a late adopter of this API, but even it has had it for a while). This is not a deal-breaker for me - KP2A has great workarounds which work well, and I like Vivaldi a lot to look past this - but this absolutely needs to be implemented IMO.

@Gwen-Dragon
This is not a chromium issue. This is a vivaldi issue. I use both lastpass and 1password and they work fine with brave and opera on android. Those are based on chromium. This issue keeps me from using vivaldi as my browser of choice on android. And as an extension on a pc.
-
You can add microsoft edge browser to the list of chromium browsers on android that does function with the above password managers as well.
-
Do we have any news on this? I have raised a "bug" since months on 1password forums, but it seems to me it is a vivaldi bug... This is the reason I am still using chrome on android...
