Vivaldi 3.0 RC 2 – Vivaldi Desktop Browser snapshot 1874.15
-
@ndat: Yes, it is. Watch out for VB-54268. Probably not gonna be fixed before 3.0 though.
-
Since you're asking for feedback on serious regressions since 2.11, I really hope these are fixed before final:
(VB-65700) Alt-key plus key does not open sub-menus
(VB-62216) Focus Panel hotkey for History no longer worksTo be honest, it seems to me you guys have dropped the ball a bit on keyboard accessibility, after implementing several non-keyboard accessible features lately (clock, content block).
And please please fix the very long-standing bug with down-arrow in search bar when NumLock is on. It's such an obvious bug that new users will encounter almost instantly, and it's been like this for years...
-
@Pathduck I cannot confirm either bug. What language and what OS are you on?

non-keyboard accessible features (clock)
I submitted a bug for this:
(VB-64295) Clock Dialog Difficult to navigate with Keyboard
It is largely fixed now. The only thing I noticed was that Save Preset was missing from the clock dialog tab order, so users cannot save a preset without using the mouse.
-
@mtaki14 I can confirm:
(VB-65816) Alt+F No Longer Displays the File Menu
Alt+F opens the menu, but not the File menu. The same with Alt+E, Alt+V, Alt+B, Alt+T, Alt+W, Alt+H to open the Help menu.
It is a significant accessibility issue due to muscle memory.
-
-
@jumpsq It doesn't work here, win7 32bit, and if you even disable "Alt key for menu" you can't anymore access menus with keys, that option should only prevent toggling menu when pressing Alt alone.
-
@mtaki14 Focus Panel Hotkey for History focuses the search field, which is probably useful.
However, shortcuts for Next/Previous panels break down at the history panel due to this. The same problem occurs with my Bing Translation panel, for which focus is given to the text input field. Tricky to fix without breaking desired behaviour for such panels.
-
@jumpsq Try with the “Vivaldi” menu, not the horizontal one.
The horizontal one doesn't work the opposite way, i.e., it is only accessible with Alt+key or Alt, arrows but not Alt, key.
Edit: the horizontal menu issue reported as
VB-65978

@potmeklecbohdan Ah right, thanks for the clarification, Vivaldi button active here, that's probably the difference.
-
@Pesala I'm sure the clock dialog is at least partly accessible once it's open. But AFAIK there is no way to actually open the dialog - unless "Focus all controls" is enabled in Settings, which is a PITA to tab all the way to. When implementing a new feature they should always create hotkeys to open and focus their dialogs. Same goes for content blocker, but at least that one's still accessible in Settings.
Not that I care much about using the fancy clock anyway, but keyboard access should always be a priority
For the Focus Panel hotkey - I use keys to switch KB focus between content and panels. The History panel is the only one it doesn't work for and I use that one a lot. Workaround is to toggle panel off and on again.
-
@Pathduck I think the Notes panel suffers from the same issue, and my Bing Translation Panel.
-
@Pesala @Pathduck The problem seems to happen if the panel focuses an input field by default.
Another possible bug I found when testing this—the panels don't remember what was their last focused element (e.g. I'm editing a note, switch to the page (F9), switch back to the panel (F7) and now the tree is focused).
-
@potmeklecbohdan Yes, it appears you are right. For Notes though, it seems to focus the tree first for me so I don't see it. But History definitely focuses search first and I can't switch to it with the hotkey.
Another one I've found while messing around with this: It appears there's an "empty" panel between the default and custom ones. Using Next Panel hotkey, a blank panel appears after the Window Panel...
-
All my extensions are gone after updating to this snapshot from the yesterday's one.
How do I return them back? -
@veljanovski Nothing under vivaldi://extensions/ ?
-
@mtaki14: Only one, which I was not using anyway. Nothing in the user folder too, except this one.
At least the settings are preserved. After reinstalling one extension, it showed up configured. -

The same for me, except for that no panel appears and none is selected (no button is highlighted). This has surely something to do with M3

Any news about hanging Vivaldi bug on some video sites (VB-65744, VB-65079)? It's really annoying. I hope you are not going to release the final 3.0 with such a problem

Early Sunday morning snapshot.
