Profiles / People UI Inconsistencies and insufficiencies

Using 2.12.1856.3 on Win 10 / Dell XPS 15 Laptop
So I like the idea of profiles. I would like to generate one profile based on my current setup to easily work on two completely different projects. The rest is about the difficulties I encounter trying to set that up.
-
Naming things: Via tools-settings-addressbar the button to press is "manage profiles" (Path A), if I choose to show the button on the address bar and go through that it's called "Manage people" (Path B). In both dialogs I then add a "person". Why not call it profile all the way through instead of Profile/People/Person? I searched this forum for 'profiles', maybe I didn't find some relevant posts talking about 'people' or 'persons'? (Personal preference is 'profile' because I want to use it as the same person for different projects. Or call it Persona like Firefox )
-
Different dialogs to do the same thing: Path A leads to a different dialog than path B. Opinion mine: in tools-settings just add the checkbox to show the profile button on the address bar, do the rest through the address bar.
-
Creating the profile through path B gives me quite a few more icon options than going through path A. Path A is just bigger, and with my laptop resolution 1920x1080, I have a scrollbar just for the lower quarter of the last row of profile icons (which, again, there are fewer of than through Path B )

Icon and Name mix up. Using Sync, the profile/people/person button on the address bar shows my Vivaldi forum profile icon, a duck, Hovering the mouse over that icon, it says 'WildEnte'. If you assume that's the name of my profile, you are mistaken. The name of the profile is 'person 1'. Apparently I can neither rename this profile nor change the icon.
As an aside, on a non-sync'd profile, the icon and name in the address bar are the same as profile name and icon. I think when sync'd, the browser profile name & icon should be the same as the community sync name & icon. -
Name mixup: going through Path A to 'Manage people', my current and only profile is called 'You'. But when I go through Path B / click the button in the Address bar, the same profile is called 'Person 1' (again, when I'm logged in as WildEnte). Not only has the same profile at least 2 names (i.e. 'you', 'Person 1' and possibly 'WildEnte') - I can't rename the profile anywhere. None of this makes sense.

Oversized icons / unnecessary scrolling: Adding a person walks you through the setup - the import bookmarks & settings wizard shows my 6 browser icons (Edge, IE, Opera 12.x, Chrome, Firefox, Vivaldi) in totally oversized boxes. Looks nice but I click and click and nothing happens. Until I find out that on said laptop resolution with 1920x1080, the six icons break to two rows that fit nicely on the screen, but the 'Import / continue/ buttons below are hidden and I need to scroll there. Not instantly obvious, a bit of me being dumb, but ... why not scale the whole thing please?
-
So I want to import all the bookmarks and settings from my current profile in my current browser (Vivaldi). I click on 'Vivaldi' and there's just the SLIGHTEST change in both the Vivaldi box and the 'import' button. Note that the 'import' button is by far not as in-your-face as the 'continue' button. I am SO tempted just to click 'continue', after all I clicked which browser I want to import from. But it turns out I have to click on 'import' first, otherwise no bookmarks, buddy.
-
Clicking 'import' I get the error message 'close browser before importing'. I am in the middle of doing something in my browser, so no thank you I don't want to close Vivaldi on my default profile just to do the import. You're not supposed to fiddle with it anyway.
-
Ok so I close the browser anyway. The only browser open now is the one where I set up the new profile. I guess it needs to be open. But the same error message 'close browser before importing' keeps coming up.
-
If I click cancel in the "close browser before importing" error message, 'Vivaldi' magically turns blue and it says 'imported'. Aha. Of course later it turns out nothing is imported.
-
Importing bookmarks from another browser puts those bookmarks into a 'imported bookmarks' folder. Sigh. I had hoped that I could base the new profile off of my old profile and make a few changes, but apparently I need to set it all up from scratch.
-
I end up playing around with this and want to delete some profiles. Turns out that going to 'manage people' through tools-settings, to access the 'remove this person' option you need to click on the invisible three white dots on white background that only appear when you hover the mouse over the profile icon in question.
-
I am given the option to delete the only available Person. I don't dare pressing that button.
-
As I now understand it, there is no way to generate a profile as a modification from my existing fully configured & customized installation. Pretty please?
I really think the idea of profiles is great. Sorry. I know that you guys worked really hard on it and I truly appreciate that. So sad to see 99% of the work being messed up a bit by the last 1%.
