Vivaldi as an altenative to Facebook
-
I've never liked the idea of using my real name online. Won't do it. Didn't do it it on Facebook, either. Which brings me here. Facebook sent me a message saying that they need photo ID to prove that my username was my real name. As if it was their damn business or place to make such a demand. I have deleted most of my profile there. I have until October 9th to provide ID or I will be locked out of my account. They're only doing it to users whose names seem false. For now... So, having a lot of respect for Iceland and their respect for privacy, I googled "Icelandic Social Networks". Ta da! Here I am. I am using this as a replacement for Facebook, not as a replacement for a web browser. I know most of my family and friends will stay there. I just don't have that choice. Even if I changed to my real name, I'd have to provide photo ID to stay there. Their loss. I use Linux on my computer. Again, better privacy and security. I'm happy with that and my browser. I'm looking to meet people here. And have some great conversations along the way! Attachments:

It's too small to replace Facebook since the main thing about Facebook is the mass of people there.

Vivaldi isn't Facbook, read TOS
A very good app https://tosdr.org/

Facebook's requirements are meant to protect its users (as well as monetize them ) and therefore given the fact that you lied regarding your identity, I don't think you can blame them for requiring some further proof as to who you are. There are far too many people online who are disguising their identities for nefarious reasons (i.e. I don't much cotton to the idea of some pervert pretending to be a little girl in order to fool my granddaughter). Vivaldi is not a replacement for Facebook. It's primary reason for being is to promote its products and services (the browser suite) and to provide help for those using such. It's true that they have given us a forum along with blogs in order to communicate but it can never replace Facebook.
