Let us write additional details when reporting spam or offensive posts
-
Currently when you report/flag a post you're given 3 options: Spam, Offensive and Other.
However, only if you choose Other can you write a message in the "Reason for reporting this content" field. Yet, when reporting posts it might sometimes not be immediately obvious why it is spam or offensive, and in those cases it would be very useful if we could write down some additional details to give an explanation for why the content was reported. An example would be the spammer accounts that pop up every now and then who simply steal posts from reddit and post them here using completely new accounts with names in the format
FirstnameLastname
. This method is probably done to make them look like legit users before they drop their spam links. If you report a post by one of these and choose "Spam" you cannot specify that "this is a bot stealing posts from reddit", so it might look like you reported a completely valid post as spam for no reason.(Obviously this particular case is well-known by now as it has happened for months, but hopefully it still illustrates my point.)
So why not open up the "Reason for reporting this content" field for Spam/Offensive content reports? It should probably be optional to fill it in, but having the option to do so would be lovely.

@Komposten A few radio-boxes for Offensive posts might be enough:
CAPS LOCK
Language
Flame-bait
Ad hominemA droplist could also do the job:
I guess it depends on what the forum software can do.

@Pesala I don't see a reason why the options should be restricted. Some default options could be nice, possibly as a combo box (dropdown list), but a free text option should always exist IMO.
