Vivaldi 2.11 improves Pop-out video
-
Watch videos independently of the page where you found them, match OS themes better, navigate quicker – all this and more in the new version of the Vivaldi browser.

I am happy to see the new version is out now.

The release is a bit premature. The new button for PiP is too buggy for a stable release:
- Displays on fullscreen videos, but does nothing
- Never disappears unless the mouse cursor is moved away
- Also displays on Audio players
I don't understand why it could not wait until Friday, or early next week.
-
In our first version of this feature, launching the window was hidden behind menus and extra clicks. Not anymore.
You got that right - can't be more in-your-face than a huge button on every video that won't disappear.
It even appears on videos that already has its own PIP button, for instance:

Great update!
-
Couldn't have chosen a better spot for the pip button, why not in a corner?
-
Great job, although yes, the button does not have a very successful location, it would be better in some corner of the video. But this is not so important either, it is welcome anyway.

I have just updated to Vivaldi 2.11 and the trash can on the top right of the tab bar is not visible. How can I make it visible again?
sorry, that was because after this update I reinstalled my .css and .js modification...removed it and the trash can is shown again.
-
@stardepp Are you using any CSS mods?
-
@stardepp, in vertical tabs is where always, below, next to the cloud
-
@Pesala I suspect it needed to be released so that users could get the latest version of the chrome engine (and associated security fixes).
-
Putting them up, it appears to me
-
Is there any way to turn off the PIP button? It's rather distracting and it's a feature I will never use.
-
Looks like that I will wait with upgrading to newest version.
-
Loved the feature, but... Is there a way to disable or hide the Pop-out video button?
-
This is nice but there's a lot lacking still...
- It doesn't work everywhere. For example Netflix does not work while Googles PIP Extension has no issue with it.
- No option to turn off the button or move it to another location
- We still can't resize the PIP window the way we want (see Opera GX)
So for me it's doing no real difference to before apart from seeing a button more often. Keep working on it though, please
-
It looks like the size of the PIP window is still limited. Is there a reason for this limitation? I wish I could popout the video to maximize on my second screen and keep browsing the original page on my first screen
-
...am I looking right? ...it looks like the trash can got a lid since Vivaldi 2.11..

An example url of a video that won't play on IMDB? Tried one & it works (I do have Metal support enabled via a Flag). -
There needs to be an option to turn off the button overlaying the video. It is really distracting and I have no use for it.
It even stays visible in fullscreen unless I move the mouse cursor to the side of the screen.
