Vivaldi 2.11 improves Pop-out video
-
pop out video is so wonderful .
-
Hallo. I want to propose an addendum. "close the tab with the right click. now it only has a close with
a double click thenks -
@orionra Close Tab is on the Tab Context menu. One can also use middle-click.
-
@rnixon: yeah, so annoying. isn't vivaldi supposed to be about customization, not "our way or the highway"?
-
@Swashbuckler There’s always going to be a limit to what can be achieved by the small team of developers. There are currently about 2,500 feature requests — many of them much more important than yet another way to close tabs:
- Double-click
- Middle-click
- Left-click on close tab button
- Right-click, close
- Assignable keyboard shortcut
- Assignable mouse gesture
- Close in Window Panel ...
-
How to turn-off this pop-out video button!?
(mod edit: language)
-
I am using chrome until I can shut off that annoying box in the middle of all videos and even gifs. What the?
-
@pesala: You know your browser is very good as is when you start adding in things that make it worse, just so you can keep adding in things.
-
@stardepp: it was either the lid for the trash can or a way to shut off the pip box. Can only do so much each release.
-
Just an idle question: how is it that the video button everyone wants gone is seemingly one of the few things that you can't manipulate with CSS (like, to hide it)?
-
@rseiler
Only a guess, but it can be part of the shadow DOM of the<video>
element. -
Hi everyone!
Would there be a chance to think (actively) of such a solution that someone who does not have such an internal need to update the Vivaldi browser to the latest version (e.g. it does not have to be absolutely at the top with the news implemented in the latest version), but would like to be up to date with browser security (security - Google Chrome upgrade to the latest version with improved web browsing security) and could only update the Google Chrome engine itself?
It would be nice if someone among the Vivaldi IT specialists implementing the new code in the Vivaldi browser would comment on my purely academic considerations.
Thank you.PS
My English is none (it is not my native language - I am Polish) so I apologize in advance for potential stylistic and grammatical mistakes!

@cieyou I'm not a Vivaldi dev, but I believe that the chromium engine is not a "drop-in" replacement module within the browser. There are various functionalities within chromium that Vivaldi chooses or needs to "tweak" or block to preserve how Vivaldi basically operates. Hence, each chromium update has to be properly fitted into Vivaldi to keep Vivaldi on an even keel. Occasionally, one will indeed see a Vivaldi 'stable' update that includes primarily a chromium update (usually for over-riding security reasons), but not so much other feature changes.

@pathduck: thank you very much, that worked. It was looking like windows 95 but that fixed it perfectly.

Hello,
How can I disable that annoying icon in the upper center of the video? It is really annoying and I prefer to have no overlay items on my videos.
Why did you have to add this? The right-click method is enough and it's simple. That icon blocks the view of the video and breaks user experience. I want it out. How do I disable it?
For me and probably many more, this is a bug and not a feature.
-
@SorinMOprea You should find that the icon disappears after a few seconds, along with the media controls. Otherwise, move the mouse cursor away from the video.
Vote for Switch to Disable Picture-in-Picture Video Popout Icon

Excellent update, there are pages (for example youtube) where the Pop-out icon does not hide and is really annoying

Since this stable release, Vivaldi became very laggy to me. This is my data
Vivaldi 2.11.1811.33 (Stable channel) (32 bits)
RevisiĂłn 2fded68356b2ad8c4d715a2becf1c013cfc760a8
Sistema operativo Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (Build 7601)
JavaScript V8 8.0.426.16
Flash 32.0.0.207I don't know why but it takes a lot to boot, when open it takes a minute (at least) to became stable. I change some design things and seems to be kind of better. A question how do I take off the search bar next to browser navigation bar?
-
Confirmed, I can't use new Vivaldi if there is any desktop app open. I must restart my computer...
-
Thanks, but what can I do with the total lag and freezing. Is there any way to install old version?
