Vivaldi has a Weird Approach to Touch
-
For years there has been no support for navigation using touch.
Now I just tried swiping back and forth with one finger. To my surprise, I was able to pull out some fancy side panes which are parts of this webpage. Whoop Whoop!
Now, dear devs, please wire those events to forward/backward and let's call it a day. Your hidden side panes are cool, but easy touch navigation across every page out there would be much much cooler. -
@Gwen-Dragon I am not sure what You think might be a bug. I also made a suggestion. But maybe You can clarify:
- Is swiping back and forth with one finger in Vivaldi on a touch device meant to navigate back/forth?
- Are the fancy sidepanes on forum.vivaldi.net meant to be pulled out by swiping back and forth with one finger?
-
The left and right side panes on the Forum are indeed triggered by swiping from the edges, and I have to admit I was originally surprised by this behaviour when I first discovered it as there's no obvious visual prompt that this feature exists.
Also, a large number of Android apps with page-based navigation (not just browsers*) use side swiping for back and forward navigation - or such is my experience.
*For example, I have an app for bus passes which goes back to the ticket select screen on a left-to-right swipe.
