    How to navigate Black Friday

    My method: Don't

    🙂

Exactly. I hate that this US consumerist "holiday" is being unquestioningly imported to my country. This tradition has no basis here. But I guess the wheels of capitalism must for ever be greased by mindless consumerism.

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play. How about a nice game of chess?

It is obviously a great function to see several pages at once in mosaic and also the security offered by Vivaldi. But the offers of "black Friday" in many cases are not such, but so-called Luna prices, especially for Christmas. That is, the price is raised and crossed out later, to offer the item as discounted with the original price. It is simply a promotion of wild consumerism. The stores often offer real offers, but doing so on these dates in so-called "black Fridays" is more than doubtful

EXACTLY, you WILL get better deals if you're willing to wait and really look around.

I agree with every word. "Black Friday" has ZERO meaning outside of the US, it's just an excuse for major retailers to con people into thinking they can get something for nothing.

And - like most sales - the prices have been manipulated in the months leading up to December so you're (almost) never getting a bargain. Don't waste your time on this nonsense, and hopefully it will go away and stop polluting my news and media with stupid stories and ads.

(Actually, I've noticed that it already seems a lot less hyped than a couple of years ago, thank goodness.)

The recommended security measures, if you go personally to the store with "black Friday" offers: helmet, spiked elbow, knee pads, spine protector ..... I know 😁

  • I find that Serif's deals are genuine; currently 30% off of the usual price for Affinity products, but I still don't need them, so I save less by not buying them than I would usually — only £34.99 instead of £49.99.

Yes, there are certainly some real offers, but also in items that you would not otherwise buy, while the other prices at Christmas go up to 30%, especially in food. Christmas is a great business and nobody gives anything away for free.
It is clear that consumption increases at Christmas but you have to go with a thousand eyes and not fall into the trap of Black Fridays, but generally avoid shopping at the last moment and be attentive to offers of the article in question you want to buy, which is also after Black Fridays many times even cheaper, still when they are the last ones that the store wants to eliminate.

  • Black Friday Sales Offer Few Real Deals

Black Friday sales offer few real deals with most goods cheaper or available for the same price at other times, according to consumer group Which?.
It found that just four of 83 products they studied last year were cheaper during the Black Friday promotion.

  • My page monitors notify me when it's Black Friday (usually multiple times per year TBH). This is the reward for proper product research and patience.

If anyone else can recommend similar tracker software then I'd love to try it

And another 83,000 are more expensive during Christmas, it is lucky, that among these 83 products are what you would buy on normal occasions.
Offers are available throughout the year, change of the season, specific offers, latest articles, etc. You have to be attentive

I think the time you could get a good deal is to figure out when a particular store buys/orders new inventory and they need to quickly shift all of last years old products.

actually you have to pay attention to how the particular store handles certain products. the bon now macy's for instance brings in winter coats half way through the fall. typically they run half off what they will be when winter officially hits, plus during that few weeks you can get an additional 20%. while most peeps pay 70 or above for a good winter coat i usually pay less than 35, and we are talking about a coat that's more than good enough for a northwest winter.

  • FYI

New Balance have had a sale on for the past month or so. Today they just redirect the previous sale page to a Black Friday page only with half the good sale stock/sizes gone (because I bought it last month).

  • Tab tiling in vivaldi is bleh https://koolio.vivaldi.net/

you don't even bother to add some sort of UX of drag and dropping a tab directly into the browser view... I mean go drag and drop a tab in vscode, visual studio, intellij, numerous other editors.

And how long is it going to take to just add this simple feature ... http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=633732 it was a great addon for firefox.. and after years it finally got built in
