Vivaldi problem or website problem? {nags with Chrome outdated message}
-
I know Vivaldi is Chrome based. There is a website that I go to regularly, and the last couple of days there (and nowhere else), I have been getting a notification that my Chrome is outdated with no option to do anything but update. I have to log out of my Linux Mint to get Vivaldi back. I don't have Chrome per se on my computer (or it doesn't show up in my program manager). Furthermore the version of Chrome that it wants to up date has nothing whatsoever to do with the Linux Vivaldi version number.
I think the number of the Chrome version that it wants to "update" is 19. (something).
I updated the Vivaldi version from Linux Mint's software update service after the window appeared, but even after that update the Chrome window still appears.
I only get this window on this one website.
Has the website been taken over by a hacker or is there something about Vivaldi's Chrome base that needs updating? I think it may be a hacker, and I should notify the website.
Since I'm a Linux computer, and using Vivaldi instead of Chrome, why would I get such a window unless from a hacker?

I've downloaded the recommended web agent extension, and limited it to that single window. It seems to work. Thanks!

@Gwen-Dragon I'm also getting the "Chrome is out of date" popup.
I went to the browser checkup website https://www.whatismybrowser.com who also reports the browser is out of date.
YOUR WEB BROWSER IS:
Chrome 79 on Windows 7
✗ Your web browser is out of date.I believe chromium is at level 82, so perhaps these popups are not red-herrings.
Sure, I could implement the spoof, but I want sites to know I'm using Vivaldi.

technically, isn't 'chrome' at 80.xxxx and chromium at 82.xxxx. I thought Vivaldi was based on Chromium? When you goto 'about' is reports 'chrome' level.
My recollection is chrome is google's port of chromium.....
