Spambots attacking this forum. Please Clean!

Pesala says the posts have been "removed," but that they still appear in search results. It would seem my manner of coming here is a "search," (recent posts), so of course I am inundated by them.
-
Or perhaps he was saying posts were removed from a different community of which he is a member. They are still arriving by the bucketload here.

Yes, I was referring to the Serif Community forum.
A search throws up nearly 100 pages of spam, but all threads lead nowhere. The index needs updating. This has been going on since the middle of May, and is still not fixed.
I am just saying — be prepared to take some strict anti-spam measures or face a prolonged deluge and big cleanup job. Stopping all new registrations will fix it at once while you work on a more robust solution that doesn't prevent genuine members from joining up.

Yeah, It was pretty bad last night, but seems ok again for the moment. I reported it too, via the "report to moderator" function.
There should be something like a post rate limiter that during a user's first 15 posts or so that:
1. enforces a timeout– that is, strictly blocks a person from posting more than one new post every five minutes or so
2. requires a captcha test to post if they've posted before in the last 15 minutes.Or it could be a gradual trust increase, like:
for a user with n posts, they must wait 1+(10/n) minutes before posting again, and 4+(40/n) minutes before posting without needing to complete a captcha to submit the post. -
The Maxthon Community forums force a post limiter per-day on new members until they have a certain number of posts. It doesn't seem to help them with spam much, as I've visited their forums before only to witness similar spam attacks.
However, this
Or it could be a gradual trust increase, like:
for user with n posts, they must wait 1+(10/n) minutes before posting again, and 4+(40/n) minutes before posting needing to complete a captcha.sounds like a pretty good idea.

Great, now I'm getting private conversation spam.
https://vivaldi.net/en-US/unity/conversations/read/15162 if an admin/mod wants to look.
(What's the proper place to report that? There's no report button on that page. I can just delete that conversation, but then the user is free to do it again. Although in this case perhaps someone else reported the user, because the name isn't clickable and a search didn't turn up any user in the system with the name "sandyBenita") -
That's right. I blocked and reported the user. I'm sure others did as well.

Ah, ok, so the account has simply already been deleted, and normally one would just go their page and use the "Block User · Report User" links there. (Sorry, I should have navigated to a still-existing user's profile page and noted that such links, predictably enough, exist on individual user pages.) Thanks.
