Chrome and Widevine
-
I don't have Chrome on this machine - I won't touch Google stuff.
Imagine my surprise when I got a notice to upgrade Google-chrome.
Removed Google-chrome.
Which also removed Vivaldi Widevine.
What's with this? Forcing me to have Chrome on my box?

@dustpuppy I suspect the prompt to update referred to the codec package and NOT to Chrome itself. You must have installed the "chromium codecs" package as described in this OUTDATED post. https://gist.github.com/ruario/3c873d43eb20553d5014bd4d29fe37f1

Under normal circumstances the Widevine CDM and ffmpeg codecs got feteched and installed while Vivaldi was installed.
If widevine and special ffmpeg codecs are missing, update them manually

Thank you.
I had been installing Widevine out of habit - glad it's not needed anymore with v2.xGoogle products worry me.
