Vivaldi cannot start password export and import settings
-
I followed the tutorial, but I didn't find the password import and export options.
-
@Gwen-Dragon In the recent version update, is the password saving related function damaged?
I mean, there is no password saved by me on the desktop, only android is saved.
Although I have exported to backupAnd the password-related features seem to be invalid.
In addition to the cached account, log in to the new account, there is no key in the address bar to remind me if I want to save the password. -
The Password Import flag has been removed. I was all set to import from the spreadsheet and the flag is gone.
Why do I have the feeling that Google removed it because too many people found it helpful?
-
@seeley Maybe this will work for you:
- Install a standalone old version of Vivaldi
- Import your spreadsheet data into that
- Import your passwords into your current Vivaldi from the old Vivaldi.

How come I didn't think of that?? Thanks Pesala!

@Pesala This sounds very interesting. In general, it is back to the old version.
-
@poto It is not recommended to downgrade. The latest Stable has fixed an important exploit that could leave you at risk.
-
@Pesala Since uninstalling the snapshot installation stable, the desktop version of vivodi is like being sealed, and the functions of automatically saving passwords, synchronizing passwords, and automatically generating high-intensity passwords are invalid. These features are very critical to the user experience, and vivaldi makes me rely on them. Once deprived, my habits will not change for a while.
I even want to officially remote my computer to see what is going on.
The only thing I can do now is to wait for the next upgrade to solve these situations; the problem and solution for asking for this situation in the forum.

Gwen-Dragon - no success here on manjaro linux - when I use this command: vivaldi --enable-features=PasswordImport
I get the following error: bash: vivaldi: command not found
Any ideas? Thank You -

See my workround at Vivaldi 2.9 – Enable PasswordImportThanks for the trick, Gwen. Works a magic for Default profile with standard (install for everyone) installation. However, not so for additional profiles. I'm guessing I'd need to add a path to each profile folder. What do I need if I want to import into "Profile 1"? Will this work?
%COMSPEC% /C start vivaldi --enable-features=PasswordImport --profile-directory="Profile 1"
Also if I also import passwords for local (standalone) installations, what do I do? If, say the location of a standalone installation is "C:\Users\USER_MM\FOLDER-X"; will it be something like this?
%COMSPEC% /C:\Users\USER_MM\FOLDER-X start vivaldi --enable-features=PasswordImport
Thanks in advance. Cheers, MM

@Gwen-Dragon
"... the feature flag is back." That's great. Thank you for the head up, Gwen. -
@Pesala which old version I should install?
I need import passwords from csv file. If I import it from chrome it imports without passwords, I have nothing in the field password, perhaps it is because of import from file "Login Data" which is in C:\Users...\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Login Data where are only userIDs and web addresses but not passwords... is there any simple solution like put csv file directly into C:\Users...\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Login Data ? -
@Vivi2022
Hi, try activate password import in: chrome://flags/#passwordimport
Open chrome://settings
In the password section is a 3 dot menu, it open a menu with import.
There you can import the .cvs file directly.
Tested with latest stable 3.7.2218.49 (Stable channel) (64-Bit)Cheers, mib

@Gwen-Dragon is it possible to install old version of Vivaldi without uninstalling newest version of Vivaldi 3.7 and is it possible to run both at the same time without issues? I would like to try to run old version together with newest version because I like feature of tabs tiling, to make 6 or 8 or whatever number of tiles from opened tabs its fantastic for reading and comparing. I want to run old version of another screen on OS Win 10 is it possible without any issues just by installing old Vivaldi to different directory would not it make problems and mess in C:\Users****\AppData\Local\Vivaldi ?
-
@Vivi2022 Install the Snapshot as a Standalone Version so that it does not interfere with your settings for the latest Stable release.
You can run two or more versions simultaneously if they do not share application data. The password flag is back. My post of 2019 no longer applies.
