How to backup vivaldi browser files and settings?
-
I know the easy way would be to copy the whole AppData -> local -> vivaldi folder, but mine has grown to be over 1.7 gigabytes. Clearly this has gone out of hand and not the proper way to do. I would like to delete all the unnecessary files and folders, but I don't know which ones to delete without braking the browser. For example top sites file has grown to 650MB, Cache folder 340MB, Media cache folder 200MB and so on. Can I just delete those files and folders and vivaldi just re-creates them and start the useless never ending data whoring again? Besides why doesn't vivaldi have button to purge all that useless data already, or at least have some data caps on how much this browser is storing all this useless data? Shouldn't be that hard to add one little feature for these professional programmers. So I'm asking you what files do I have to copy so I can get all my setting, speed dial, bookmarks, passwords and all other important features backed up properly? There's no prescribed "right" way to do this. If it were me, I would just back up the "default" file.
-
By entering this into the address bar you can clear browsing data:
vivaldi://chrome/settings/clearBrowserData
If you choose to clear data from "the beginning of time" and select "cached images and files" your user folder should become a lot smaller. -

You mean default folder?

By clearing the browsing history, download history and cached images and files brought down the vivaldi folder size from 1.71GB to 550MB.
Not sure what hosted app data and content licensing are?

Now, if we only had some button and way to set the maximum amount of cache and datawhoring settings.

Basically,
Hosted app data refers to data stored by apps that you've added to your browser.
Content licenses refers to stored licenses from protected Flash content, like stuff you've paid to watch or listen to.
For more information about Flash Player protected content, see this page in the Flash Player documentation and help pages. -

The short answer is yes.
But in this very moment is not advisable to delete the topsites file, given it contains the SD thumbnails, and the current snapshot has the thumbnail generation broken.
