If you use Windows, the Firewall may block it for some reason, I had to authorize Vivaldi also when updating the access to the network. Windows sometimes overreacts

first update to 2.9, it does not start up, so reinstall with offline installer.
                    but it is same.
now downgrade to 2.8, it does work.

@tree1891: Its a known issue caused by Symantec then, here is some info on it from them, they also provide a workaround afaik. https://support.symantec.com/us/en/article.tech256047.html

@tree1891: Hm, yeah, I see they state that 14.2 should fix the issue, could be you have a different issue then. Could you try running vivaldi.exe –disable-features=RendererCodeIntegrity to see if that fixes it or not?

It doesn't start up with the flag "Force Dark Mode for Web Contents" (#enable-force-dark) enabled.

I wanted to try it as it is was something I was looking forward to in this Chromium version, but then Vivaldi either closes as soon as it starts, or it starts as a grey or white rectangle, without even close/minimize buttons. I was unable to disable the flag back as Vivaldi didn't start at all. Trying to start with switches "vivaldi --disable-features-WebUIDarkMode" and other variations didn't work.

In the end, I downgraded to 2.8. When I upgraded to 2.9 again, fortunately the flag was again disabled.

So don't experiment with this flag in this version, or at least try it on a standalone installation first.

Great stuff as usual, thanks !
Just FYI, updating made all my extension icons visible again, I had to hide the buttons i don't want to see again, the hide/show setting of the buttons seems to have been lost after update from 2.8 to 2.9.

This made Vivaldi 2.9 start up again for me (SEP 14.2 on Windows 10 x64 1903).

The Firewall notification was the only incident I had, after authorizing Vivaldi access to the network, there were no more problems.
Apart from that the option of using an image for the tab bar has disappeared, although this is not so important for me either.

                                          Edit
The option is still there, but putting an image, this is not shown in the Tab bar

@Gwen-Dragon I wish there was a "Known issues" list at the end of the changelog. It is nice to read new features and things that work, but knowing things that do not work is even more important to avoid frustration. Especially in cases like this, where it causes complete failure yet easy to avoid if only the information was shared.
