-
Hello!
Sorry for my english!
When I want to write messages on Facebook, then the site drop me to google play and ask me to install Facebook messenger it.
Please enable messages on mobile view of facebook, like in Opera mobile browser.
Thanks!

Same as in Chrome
Workaround: switch site to desktop version.
-
@ROTFL Yes i know, but the mobile view of messages is working in Opera Android browser.
-
It works fine in my browser (Vivaldi 2.7.1624.219, https://m.facebook.com/messages/)

You're a few releases behind the current version. -
@bonetone No later version is showing on the Play Store for any of my devices?
The direct APK link is also showing the same version?
-
@prking Doh, my fault, I thought I was in another forum category but got pulled into this one via "unread". My mistake, editing previous post to strikethrough.

Hi Vivaldi's developer team! Perhaps please could you make available Facebook Messenger web view in Vivaldi for Android version as it can be used in Opera for Android without FB Messenger app. Thank you very much ...
-
@myke29 I can load Facebook messenger in Vivaldi Android. What trouble are you having when trying to access it yourself?
-
@BoneTone messenger is available if you go to "Desktop Site".
Use the 'V' at the top right corner and scroll down to "Desktop Site"
Messenger is a both huge download (like the facebook app) and like all fb products is meant to track and profile you.
I get along with using the browser to get to the site, no apps needed. -
@greybeard right, I was saying it works fine for me & offering @myke29 assistance. But, only 1 post and the user never logged in again, so not sure if they'll ever return for help.
-
@BoneTone Unfortunate...
-
it's still not working the native mobile version of facebook messages. Only working with desktop site view... Sad...

Sadly, this has never worked for me in Vivaldi, I always get redirected to https://m.facebook.com/messenger/install/?native_url=intent%3A%2F%2Fthreads%2F%23Intent%3Bscheme%3Dfb-messenger%3Bpackage%3Dcom.facebook.orca%3Bend&_rdr, which only displays a big button to download or launch the native Android application. As others have pointed out, this redirect does not happen in Opera, and it just loads the mobile web interface of facebook messenger.
And, as others have also pointed out, forcing the desktop view does make it possible to load the desktop web interface, but that is very clunky and impractical on a small phone screen.
Is there something else that you might have done with your Vivaldi settings that prevents this native redirect from happening?

Can't access facebook messages. Desktop mode don't work anymore...

@Baolikedilac Does not work. Broken link... It works one time using FireFox but subsequent load attempts fail with that browser too

Well, now that Facebook has rolled out their latest redesign of the mobile website, it appears that they completely scrubbed all mentions of messenger from both mobile web versions (basic and full), so that seems to be a sad RIP for this thread. Looks like they really went out of their way to make sure that the only way to access messages on a phone is by installing an application that can more readily slurp up all other kind of data from your phone.
