The Man Who Knew Everything

  • Is it possible to know everything ? That depends. Because you see, he who thinks he knows everything, is determined by the lack of knowledge of others. And then, the law of averages usually defines a know all, or genius, as a dunce. Because the more that genius or know all thinks he knows, determined in the long run, the less he knows. Which brings us back to the primordial question. Is is possible to know everything ? Again, that depends. Because he who asks the question, might come across as knowing everything. While those that don't think or don't know, might know everything there is to know about nothing. So please let me know if you know so we can all know and thus, know everything there is to know about nothing.

  • It is impossible to know everything simply because everything that can be known is not yet known so no one can know it all!

  • Excellent point and that is so true. Yet, knowledge can be defined as the capacity to know. Thing is to know what, how much and to what extent. Having a full capacity in these three points of understanding, a know it all would be in play. The know all when then choose his target, find a fool and become king of the mountain..

  • We have a dichotomy! An educated person who thinks that they have all the correct answers to everything who is in fact a fool for believing that they know it all and have all the correct answers. There is a fine line between having extreme self confidence or the arrogance of a know it all.

  • .. Ali of this goes on in Hollywood. Where singers or actors are acclaimed so much that they begin to believe circumstances evolving around them. There egos gets inflated and in they end up only fooling themselves. So yeah, they think they know, but they really don't know. Its a growing process we all go through till one day we look at ourselves in the mirror and realize our true reality

  • The older I get the less I know.
    Soon I will know nothing.

  • What you mention has got to be related to our ever changing technological world. Just when we think we have a grip on our smart phone a new and better version comes into the market and we are like babies on diapers. Crapping in our pants over how to navigate in the new world

If you are referring to me, it doesn't have to do with technology. It has to do with having so little experiance and knowledge that when we are young we think we have it all figured, but as we age we find that the things we thought we know we don't and never did.
I am at an age that I have tried everything and none of it has worked, so at this point in my life, I don't know what works anymore.

  • Was not referring to you simply commenting in general, though I seem to understand where you are coming from. They say that life is a journey. We should always stop and look to the past, not to indulge on it, but simply to gain strength and move forward

  • It seems an answer being sought here might be something along lines~
"Don't do it~ whatever deed questioner has in mind"
The question brings to mind 1956 Hitchcock classic~ The Man Who Knew Too Much
about American doctor James Stewart & singer wife Doris Day with son vacationing in Morocco or some such place~ They witness a political assassination on street in marketplace and their son gets kidnapped~ Eventually crisis gets resolved with happy ending~
Song "Que Sera Sera…" plays key role breaking case and reuniting son with parents~
This film is one that intrigues time and again and I have encountered repeatedly the strangest instances referring to that film~
Basically~ underground local factions obsess and plot conspiratorially across unrelated realms alluding the plot of that film~
I forget about it all the time and get reminded ~ Intuition is like that ~ Superstition raises it's assundry havoc in course of ordinary consciousness flow

Anyways ~ in case you are planning some unsavory diabolical deed ~ I strongly recommend restraint and rethinking the situation!

Is Omniscience possible? I doubt it since the universe is organic and ever~changing~
According to what I've been taught~ Only God can know everything

  • I recall a sign from years ago, it said

Those of you who think you know everything are annoying to those of us who do.

    :P

  • For me that is impossible cause a man can't knew everything ,even a fortune teller can't knew everything but i agree on you that it is depend base on your explanation .To be honest there are some people that know everything about me but i keep something to them and it is smoking electronic cigarette and this is my huge secret that even all my friends don't know.

  • Vivaldi Team

I guess, much better than to know everything - is to be able to describe your knowledge to others :)

  • Do you have to be an educated person to think you know everything?

  • Ain't it the truth. Plus one man who knew just about everything but when the world is coming to an end was nailed to a cross in other words crucified. Hmmm? Is it better to play dumb. Maybe then one is not detected as a threat.
