Twice the fun – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1664.26

@iAN-CooG I think @Pathduck has put it better, previously -as also in Stable- the url populated the address bar immediately and the browser showed the background color immediately as well, before loading the site, now they've cut the background-color-showing duration in half by assigning the waiting-delay to it, with the only difference that with the url not populating the address bar immediately, one percieves the delay as "longer" and the click->response as "broken". Definitely needs tweaking.

@folgore101: Thanks, I was just going to mention this and you did it for me. Present in current stable and this snapshot.
-
Breakpoints in docked dev tools are still broken to completely unusable state, for arrows in search bar to work it's still required to disable numlock... This lasts for months already. And you're "stabilizing for the next release". Good work vivaldi team!
-
"[Address bar] Can not remove items from the typed history (VB-57319)" -- Many thanks!
However, can you also fix a problem that popped up in the same snapshot that caused the inability to remove items from the typed history? i.e. On a Speed Dial tab, after clicking the down arrow in the address field to display the list, clicking outside the list does not close it.

I love these photos of flowers for the blog posts. It seems the trend started on 29 August. I particularly like the hydrangea one. Thank you for the beautiful photos.
-
@pathduck: Can confirm.
-
Such a slowdown occurs when you click the bookmark shortcut on the start page. Once it lasts a few seconds, once to even 5 minutes!
-
@mib2berlin: And your only sync clients are this build. Nothing older (i.e. no stable and no Android)?
-
@rotfl: It would but there is no mobile client with this fix. Thus if you are using mobile you cannot see any improvement currently.
-
@ryofurue: They are all from unsplash and are freely usable. You can use the photographer link to find the image. Alternatively open the image in a new tab. Note its name and google on that.
-
@potmeklecbohdan: Open the image in a new tab. Note its name and google on that is quick if you can't quickly see it by the author link.
P.S. Since they are all unsplash they are all freely usable.

@chdsl: Better to use a package manager. I wrote this install script as a fallback for when there simply is no package. This is quite common for snapshots because distros generally do not track non-final/stable updates. As it happens Arch has a good solution for this in the form of the AUR.
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/vivaldi-snapshot/
So you would be better using that. I tried to make all this clear on the help page. See the message at the end:
-
@potmeklecbohdan: Also Arch? It is for Arch. People using it for Manjaro might be OK but it is not recommended
-
Just to be clear, the script works quite well IMHO (OK, I am biased since I wrote it) but I think most people would prefer to have the Vivaldi package as part of their normal packages, so all the standard distro tools can be used and updates and handled with everything else.
-
@pathduck: I have filed a bug report for this: (VB-57517) Address in address bar does not get updated until page is loaded
-
@ruario
Hi, I use sync with Android, too.Xiaomi Mi 9T
Android 9
Vivaldi 2.7.1624.163Cheers, mib
-
@mib2berlin: Then you cannot test because you need all clients to have the fix first
-
@ruario
Okay, thanks for the information.Cheers, mib
-
@ruario So only when the android version gets updated then...

Ah, thanks for the info. I did think it's primary for Manjaro because… because of the linked post.
