Vivaldi needs admin password

Vivaldi asks for the first open the password for the admin. Is it perhaps an Ubuntu problem?

Hi, I am on Opensuse but never heard or read Vivaldi ask for password, be careful.
Where do you get Vivaldi and wich version.Cheers, mib

As you described, I suppose that is a problem with your keyring on Ubuntu with GNOME.
This happens because the Chromium-based browsers on Ubuntu use as default the libpam-gnome-keyring to store passwords securely.
The GNOME Keyring uses your root password to crypt and decrypt the saved passwords, so, when you need access some application that uses the keyring, the root password is requested. So, if you change your user password (even the change was made on terminal with passwd command), the GNOME Keyring registry associated with the application stay unsynced with your new password.
To avoid this problem you can:
- Make your Chromium-based application keyring password blank;
- Make your Chromium-based application launcher uses another password storage mode; or
- Manually sync your Chromium-based application keyring with your user password and set that keyring to unlock automatically with autologin.
