[BUG] "Vivaldi Needs Access To Share Your Location" x Infinity
-
Well, first big bug I've experienced for a browser that values privacy (which I've been telling others to have them try it out) is constantly telling me it NEEDS access to my location to share with whatever website I'm viewing. Although not posed as a question like other browsers (as in "Do you want to share your location with whatever.com?"), the answer is still "Hell no." It will always be "Hell no." and there needs to be an option to turn this annoying thing off. Good thing its a beta because I can't keep recommending people switch over to a privacy-minded browser if it's going to keep demanding to give up my location to every random website I visit.
Also: Please turn on "Do Not Track" by default.

Galaxy S9. Android 9.
I seem to have discovered the culprit is, of course, Google. Set as default search engine, anytime I search for something, this comes up. I research constantly so that's why I kept seeing it so much. I could have sworn I also saw it while following a Feedly link to Forbes.com but I can't verify that 100%.
Apologies to the Vivaldi team. Guess I'll be using Duck Duck Go from here on out.

Hi, I post I don´t get the message but I had not search at this moment.
I can now verify the issue with Google as default search engine, sorry.Cheers, mib

This is driving me insane. It pops up every time I search something in Google. In site settings in the browser, I have explicitly selected "Deny" for the location permission, but Vivaldi still prompts me every time I Google something. Worst case I end up closing this annoying prompt a dozen times in a minute as I refine my search.
This has to be fixed.

I'm using the beta version, yes.
I downloaded the snapshot version now, and I still get the prompt every time the Google page loads. Again, I went into settings -> site settings -> location and set it to "Blocked", but it doesn't make a difference.

The message sounds like Vivaldi was not approved (or was blocked) from accessing your device's location. Anyone who has allowed Vivaldi itself to access their location shouldn't see that message.

@sgunhouse
Hi, Google shows "Location blocked" on main page but don´t get the pop up.
Tested with locked in or out in Google.de and .com.Cheers, mib

I can not reproduce it. I use Startpage as a search engine, just like in the Desktop version

I have same issue - every time I search something in google this notification pops up. Vivaldi beta last version.
-
This is extremely inappropriate. How come a browser that emphasizes privacy is conspiring with Google to push location detection? I have the same issue. Every time I use Google as default search engine, it prompts me to provide my location... Even though I blocked location detection on Vivaldi.
This happened ever since I upgraded Vivaldi to the latest version. This and the fact that Vivaldi now keeps crashing, is extremely disappointing.

I have the same issue on a Samsung Note 4 (N910F) with a custom ROM based on Lineage 16.0.
You don't need examples of websites, though: Something as simple as typing "test" into the search field with Google as main search engine will trigger this message after a moment - you don't actually have to tab on any search result links. -
