Snapshot 1.0.249.12 is out: Web Panels, Extension buttons UI, Progress bar and tab performance boost
-
Hi y'all, We have been hard at work over the last couple of weeks, resulting in a snapshot with many nice improvements and bug fixes. We have an initial web panel implementation, we added support for more extensions with button UI. Our progress animation gets an overhaul and we have a couple of nice performance improvements. https://vivaldi.net/en-US/blogs/teamblog/item/45-snapshot-1-0-249-12-web-panels-extension-buttons-ui-progress-bar-info-and-tab-performance-improvements //Christian - Vivaldi Technologies

Random thumb errors on stacked/tiled tabs.

Here I have two stacks. The one to the left is the Vivaldi forum and the Vivaldi blog. The one to the right contains WMPoweruser and two other windows sites.
But as you can see, the Vivaldi forum has been given the WMPoweruser thumb.Win7x64 Vx32

When I click a bookmark link from the bookmark bar it opens in a new TAB not in the same TAB.
Is there a fix for this? -
I don't know if the following has been reported before. After opening and closing Settings I can no longer open Settings unless I restart the browser. I am using the 32 bits version on Windows 8.1 x64.

This bug was in the previous build too.

When I click a bookmark link from the bookmark bar it opens in a new TAB not in the same TAB.
Is there a fix for this?Apparently not - and it's now been reported several times. The option to be ABLE to select "open bookmark in new tab by default" is one that several people want, but obviously most people expect to be able to follow a link or open a bookmark and have it re-use the same tab. I'm sure we'll get that option back soon.

Web panels
…
Due to the smaller area, panels work best with pages that can adapt to mobile devices or are designed specifically for mobiles. Here are a few sample domains for you to try out and to get a feel for what is possible:I think this feature is useless for me so far. I don't use sites that can adapt to mobile devices or are designed specifically for mobiles.

I have to admit that I start to like it the way it is now.

Moving tabs around does not work properly:

Here I have moved the WMPoweruser tab. It leaves a gap where it used to be, and it overlaps completely my grouped tab with the Vivaldi forum (I have to use the Window menu item to get to the Vivaldi tab).

Right-click-drag-down to open links in new tab no longer works (it behaves like normal drag-down, opening new blank/sd tab).
Also, progress in the adressbar still need better colors/style, but I am loving the amount downloaded bit.
Typing in the adressbar still sucks. 9g should autocomplete to 9gag.com (if that's the match for 9g). And if there's a toplevel hit available, it should use that. Not some random page on that domain. And only hits that was entered manually.

This is a much better release for speed and optimization.
I would so like the browser to accept OPERA extensions because Google suppresses media rippers etc.
Please will you move that audio icon to the left of the tab !
Why can we still have the speed dial taking full box sized captures of webpages etc? How long do we have to put up with this?
A nice option to save the speed dial to a backup file would be most useful

V is almost ready, just bring the old style address bar back with drop down menu for typed URLs and disable this annoying address bar autocomplete.
-
With tabs on the left, the browser is now unsusable.
The size of the tab panel chanes size on its own while browsing, adapting to the length of the web page title. In some cases tab bar is taking 70% of window realestate

Flash player isn't working anymore?
I'm not sure if it's something in the browser (ie. a plugin/extension) breaking stuff or if somehow Flash isn't working.
When I try to play a video via facebook, it tells me to upgrade and install the lastest version. Did that, but no result.
Youtube works fine, but when i go to https://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/ it says the plugin is not supported….[EDIT]When i click to get adobe flash, it actually tells me this:
Note: Adobe Flash Player is already installed, but disabled. Click here for more information.
Any tips on how to make it work again?
(There's only one plugin installed (Chromium PDF viewer, but no flash visible))Thanks

Tabs position > left side >> tabs take 50% monitor resolution size!
Not able to narrow them.(win7 64bit)

Tabs position > left side >> tabs take 50% monitor resolution size!
Not able to narrow them. This is a known issue, and there's a workaround available posted here.
