Clicking into the address bar

  • Hi folks! Clicking into the address bar and dragging to make a selection: —would ideally position the cursor exactly where you click and allow the user to select (it doesn't because of the hidden address prefix appearing and shifting all the text over) —next best would be a single click into the address bar, then a second click-and-drag to select what you need (this doesn't work because the selected text from the initial click drags everything as if you're trying to move it somewhere) As it is, it takes 3 actions to select a piece of the URL. IE is pretty bad because for a long URL your cursor is sent all the way to the end of the line (to the right) and you have to go back to select what you need. But at least it's only 2 clicks. FF and Chrome are the best with only a single click needed.

  • I also bothered by this address bar behavior, so I illustrated some situations where url text in address bar jumps left or right after clicking on it.

    http protocol:

    https protocol:

    and some look good:

Perhaps there should be some settings which adjust address bar behavior, like * hide protocol from url, * display site details is addres bar, or mayby one single option * dumb address bar which turns off all these "goodnesses".

Yeah, this cursor jumps are SO annoying. How can I make Vivaldi show http:// part always?

Fortunately, this is implemented in snapshot 1.0.352.3

Go to the settings, and then Address Bar → Show Full URL
